Recently, as I described HERE, my work on the XTreme-G MobileForce drivers was thieved, and I've lost a bit of the will to continue. That, and when I release new drivers, it seems as if the drivers aren't "good" anymore, so with both of those things, why continue? So, I'm going to ask the users whether or not work should continue on the MobileForce drivers, or should they cease to exist.

If work was to continue, I would have to find some way of protecting my work, whether it be encryption or something else, I don't know (I would have to aquire the help of someone to do that). So, I submit this poll. The fate of MobileForce is now in your hands. If the masses want it, they shall get it. If they don't, well, MobileForce will die.

Hey buck up mate, not all hope is lost. I certainly don't blame you one bit for the problems with the drivers as of lately. I think NVidia has been doing a shi#ty job of getting good driver sets out to us. I have a feeling that NVidia puts their desktop products WAY ahead of their mobile products in priority. This very well could be why Dell has not released a new driver revision since 84.69 for our 7900GS/GTX's. Dude, I have torn your setup file to pieces and I know firsthand just how much work you put into doing this for us. Your tweaks absolutely have nothing to do with why the drivers are 'teh sukk'. Heck, I am using the 92.91G2 release myself again (just because I can use the control panel to overclock my video card now!) The only reason you may not have had the greatest success with the newest releases probably stems from people like me that prefer the screen to shut off when the lid closes, automatically. Besides that the release I am using now is perfection in itself. I hope you choose to keep up the good work.

As far as theiving goes, that would be a VERY difficult thing to curb at this point. I don't think you have the rights to encrypt or even watermark an NVidia release, as I am pretty sure they would have something to say to you on a legal front about that. Its a very unfortunate situation indeed, but you have to realize that the people who steal other peoples hard work from underneath them, are the same people who would sell their kids on Ebay if they had that as an option... I would be very careful and learn through NVidia if you have the rights to copyright a 'performance' tweaked driver set or not... I have a feeling that they won't want their drivers having somebody elses name or logo attached to it though...

I guess what it all boils down to is that I, along with several other members of this community, appreciate the work you are doing and have done in the past. I am sorry to hear about your girlfriend, and I hope you can work out the financial issues soon. Not the greatest time of year to have all of that come down on you. I would certainly donate to you if my own finances were in better shape, but it seems as though I am in nearly the same boat as you are currently. I have been there many times myself, and I know exactly how you feel. Keep your chin up Tony, things will get better! For now, just try to relax and enjoy your holiday with family and friends. Sometimes its best to just let your problems all go so you can clear your mind...

Merry Christmas buddy!

Sound advice so far...

I've greatly appreciated all your work. Take care of yourself first. If the stress and hassle is too much, shelve it. Sometimes it's good to take a break if your well being requires it. I voted to keep it going. You've got support here for sure.

No, you have done very well but it you don't enjoy it as much as you used to and with so many people doing pretty much the same thing I would take a break and wait for the right time to come back with something even better...

Whatever you choose, good luck.

Well, thanks for the support...

I've thought a little bit about it, and here's the low-down...

I realized that I enjoy doing this. I enjoy modding these drivers for everyone, and it's the whole point I started it anyways (I was originally adding the desktop XG tweaks to drivers for use on my original 9300). So, I've decided that WORK WILL CONTINUE on the MobileForce drivers, with a couple of new changes...

First of which will be the reinstatement of the MobileForce Beta Circle. I'm going to need some dedicated beta testers for this, and anyone is welcome to join (it will all be done back "home" at Tweaks R Us, however, so if you're not registered there and want to beta test, then registration would be required).

The second of which is my work I've been slowly creating in the form of TweakSet 4.00 (G4-Series). This will make its debut BEFORE TweakSet 6.00 (GX-Series) obviously, and I may start by making an updated version of an existing driver and releasing it as a Beta (if there are beta testers).

So, MobileForce will continue, if only for the fact that there are alot of people out there who are dependant on my work for driver updates, and that was the reason that I innitially released the first XTreme-G Mobile Edition (which morphed into MobileForce) driver. I just can't leave people hanging like that... I'm too nice of a person (either fortunately or unfortunately, LOL).

So, like I said, I do need Beta Testers, so if you're interested, PM me and I'll give you the full scoop...

As a little update, I've (FINALLY!) gained Admin rights over at TRU, so I will personally add anyone who wants to be a Beta Tester .

Peronally I appreciate all of your efforts on the driver front. You have invested a lot of work in making these driver tweaks for us so we can get the most out of our cards.

Keep up the good work & don't sweat the thieves, they know they are stealing the work & it will eventualy bite them in the ass.

one option for the stolen work: can you prove it? do they have a site and forum they distribute from? do they put their own name on it? does the site have advertising?

while these are nvidia drivers and not owned by you...they are modded by your efforts. i am sure advertisers would not want to put money into a site where efforts are stolen. contact them directly first. if it doesnt work, publicly post in their forums. let their advertisers know if you have to.

it might open up a can of worms....at war...but i dont see any other way around it.

i personally would not worry about them. make sure yours are better and it will have a better reputation. you can ask the other guys to give you credit for it.

my 3 cents.
