Ok, now i love Alienware n all, but this laptop is not impressing me much at all. My m9700, a little over a month old is freezing every time i boot it up, and i have image persistence on the screen, in a few areas (which is basically the same as burn in on plasmas) And now, after i changed drivers, whenever i boot up, windows asks to install a Default Monitor, 6 times, and asks me to install digitally signed drivers every time i boot up for 6 ...mysterious monitors. I tried going back to the old drivers, and still have the same problem. Whenever i run nTune or the nvidia monitor, the computer freezes. Annnnyyyy help please?

This may seem extreme at this point (since there are other solutions still out there) but have you reloaded Windows itself?

I also have a strange comment, please don't take this to heart... But, do you have a GOOD idea of what you are doing? Something like this usually doesnt happen to someone who knows what they are doing in regards to installing drivers/hardware and overall windows configs.

I agree with BFisch06, you should at this point prolly just do a clean install of windows because something you may have done really messed up your OS. Afeter you do a fresh install you will be able to get more information on your problems (persistance and if they are recurring after install.)

I know more than most people when it comes to computers haha so yes i know what i'm doing. And persistance in the LCD is a hardware isssue, nothing related to drivers.

I would RMA the machine to get that problem solved and possibly that new hardware will fix your display issues.

Sorry, I can't help much more.

My m9700 has been freezing frequently aswell, but not whenever I start it up. Usually its been freezing when I leave it on overnight, and occasionally when im playing WoW and insert a new DVD to watch and when the window comes up asking me what I want to do with the disc I select "play with windows media player" it freezes. Its happened a handful of times over the past 2 weeks and its very irritating to have to unplug all my peripherals/AC cord and remove the battery just to get it to restart as the power button doesn't work.

Are you add/removing the nvidia files, and booting to safe mode to install new drivers?

Maybe drivercleaner would help to remove old driver files hanging around, especially if you're tried lots of drivers.
