Black Ice - Page 2

My guess is water cooling. When they say it's "technology like you've never seen", they are talking about the people who buy Dell desktops. People who are mostly computer illiterate and didn't even know water cooling existed for computers.

Okay so maybe it is not software but I ask this would it not be copy right violation is they took another products name?

Copyrights are all about context. The original is the name of software. The new one is a name given to hardware. Thus the context is different. So the answer would be no.

Also, if Black Ice the program is now no longer being used then it's likely that the copyright would have run out anyway.

I dont agree that Dell would be that shallow when stating, "never seen". I am still going with the freon injected cooling system or freon injected water cooling system...... I could design one easily (non water) with no prob, considering I find a way to abolish the condensation that A/C systems tend to make. My last desktop had a "special" cpu fan system that I specially made for it. Lowered my temps extremely without the need for water.

Take a jet engine for example, fans spinning on fans spinning on fans. This compresses the air and cools it at the same time. You just need to figure how to differentiate the speed differences each fan will need to properly compress and not stall any of the fans...

but for now who really knows. I guess I will have to spy and find out. Be back with the real answers.... Im calling my buddy at Dell.

Ok Im back after doing some speed reading ( i have an iq above 145...lol)... Check this site and the "teaser image" and synopsis...

Looks like the ol molibobbin may be right with the freon cooling system.... and I semi-quote "cooling that will exceed watercooling". There is only one cost effective way with current technology to do this... Freon. I'm a genius and that is what I would do definately. I wonder how they compensated for the condensation.... I wonder how long it will take me now that I have the idea to make a freon based cooling pad for my M1710... Thank god I saved that case of R-12 my uncle gave me when he died. sounds like I will be using it soon.

It's not going to be a "freon-injected cooling system". There's WAY too much condensation involved.

Well, you may or may not be a genius, but you clearly know next to nothing about cooling systems. As an aside, your spelling doesn't reek of genius, either, definitely... Anyway, for starters, Freon has been essentially outlawed years ago (as of January 1996, to be more specific), and you can bet your hiney that no modern cooling system will be using that stuff. Also, I do not have the faintest idea what your worries about "condensation" might be.

Dell XPS 710 H2C with "Black Ice"

Dell's been dropping hints about a new XPS 710 gaming PC with super-secret "Black Ice" cooling technology for a couple of weeks now, and while there hasn't been an official announcement yet (we're expecting something soon at CES), we did manage to get the scoop on the new "XPS 710 H2C" courtesy of a well-placed source. Turns out that "Black Ice" is a "two-stage thermoelectric/liquid cooling solution" that is up to "9 degrees celsius cooler than the [regular] XPS 710 air cooling solution." Other specs include a black aluminum casing, an Intel QX6700 Core 2 Extreme processor, 4GB DDR2 RAM, dual 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX SLI Enabled graphics cards, and a 320GB RAID 0 array. List price is a hefty $5,499.

HD-DVD FTW

The use of the older 590 SLI over the 680i is a very, very big knock at the chipset's true stability.
