Forum pref; resurrects or new post?

Thread Starter
Some forums prefer you do not resurrect old threads and if a question needs clarification just ask anew (especially if there are a number of entries.
Other forums prefer you resurrect if the collection of posts are predominantly infomative and new folks would all benefit from the collective of information.
Others, (my pref) prefer you just link to old posts.

Since there are over 2 million posts in this forum, which method does the community prefer?
I'm having a field day just doing searches and damn, there are a hell of a lot of great threads at this site.

Figure I'll let my conscience be my guide.

That said, I'll make a habit of linking to older posts if my lame ass questions raise issues that new members (like me) would really benefit from.

There is no preference as such. But if you have a question that can resurrect an old thread that has other useful information, IMHO that is the best option. Only the resurrecting of useless threads raises some ire. Even linking to older useful threads is good, it provides more value that simply creating a new thread for question. But of course, the search feature is not as used as we would like and most people just create the new thread straight up... and we answer. Whatever floats your boat I 'spose.
