Smartcard Reader

On my XPS M1710 notebook I noticed that I have a Smart Card reader on the right side. What can one of these be used for? I have never seen any accessories, etc that work with the Smart Card slot in the notebook.

It was supost to be the next best thing in buying stuff online with a credit card. Take a look at the wiki

A "Smart Card" is just any cradit card sized card with an embedded chip
It's normally used as a security card instead or for strengthening a user/password
Unfortunately i havn't been able to find a smart card compatible with the reader on the M1710 (Not even at Dell) and you can't use normal smart cards since the chip is not at the same point as the chip on the Dell card

So basically, the thing is worthless...Wonder if anything else can be put in that slot.
