i am looking for a file. The original firmware which is on the Sony DW-Q58A which is deliverd with some Dell laptops. So could someone please back-up there original firmware into a bin file? I tried to go back to the original Dell bios, but after installing a Sony firmware i can;t go back with the EXE which Dell supplies. It's the UDS2 firmware. Thanks!

It's there

I found it on the firmware page, under downloads, then "S" for Sony, then DVD-Recoder (Laptop), then clicked on the link for Sony DW-Q58A /Dell OEM UDS2. Maybe you looked in the wrong place? Anyhow here's the link ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/rmsd/UDS2_win.zip I hope this helps.

On my first post......"....I tried to go back to the original Dell bios, but after installing a Sony firmware i can;t go back with the EXE which Dell supplies..."

I did found the firmware you mention "ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/rmsd/UDS2_win.zip" but this a EXE file. As soon as i start this file a get a error. I can't go back with a EXE file. I need a BIN file to reprogramm my drive. Thanks anyway. BTW Best wishes.

Is this thread still alive???

Well, I recently updated my "SONY DVD+-RW DW-Q58A" optical drive firmware from Dell's website, but I ran into a slight problem - more of an annoyance. While playing a game (CNC3) - the drive spins at a really high rpm which creates more heat than it did before the update. Also, after exiting the game, the drive continues to spin at a high rpm, it doesn't stop and it gets pretty hot. I'm trying to find the original firmware that came with the laptop since 04-25-06. Has anyone had this problem??? Pleeease help. Thanks in advance.
