Phantom - Page 5

Eurocom changed their website structure again. Instead of:
http://www.eurocom.ca/support/all%20...cfm?model_id=x

It is now:
http://www.eurocom.ca/support/all%20...cfm?model_id=x

Where x is a number representing a model.

Bad news. Eurocom is no longer claiming that the Python will have the Athlon 64 FX-51. Instead it will sport a regular Athlon 64 processor.
http://www.eurocom.ca/support/all%20...m?model_id=126

New Eurocom model alert!
http://www.eurocom.ca/support/all%20...m?model_id=129

And more lies! Eurocom here says that this model will have the Prescott Mobile (whatever that means). But in the Futures page Eurocom states that this model will have the Mobile Pentium 4 with 533MHz FSB. When will they learn...

Eh... Even though its not an AMD FX proc, I'd still rather have a regular AMD 64 +3400 over an P4 3.2ghz proc.

But then again... this IS Eurocom we're talking about...

I just wish that SOMEONE would have a 17inch, AMD 64, Radeon 9700 laptop....

I'm in the same boat as q-ball - going off to school in august, so until then I'm busily scouting what there is and what is to come - my my, too many companies getting our hopes up! Tisk, tisk, eurocom...

I got curious when Eurocom removed the "Phantom" from their future section so I shot off an e-mail late yesterday.

Me:
I was wondering if development of the "PHANTOM" with 16x PCI-Express
architecture is continuing and if so when the current estimated release
date is. I have a direct link to this model from the future section
which lists June, but became concerned when all references to this model
were removed from the future section.
Thank you for your time.

Eurocom:
Hello,

Yes it is continuing, but there is no release date at this time.
Keep logging on to Future section for updates.
Thank you,
**********

I learned nothing new but it would be nice to see this model before I head off to college and need a new laptop in Augest.

That link to the model is here.

ehhhhhhh... I would be surprised if it even comes out this year....

Dont get your hopes up. Just get a Sager 8790.

In the defense of Eurocom... They did have the 500E in thier warehouse ready for shipping 1.5 weeks before Sager did. I talked to Mark Jones the Sales Manager quite extensively before I bought the 500E and he told me about the new models coming out... he also told me not to hold my breath. It isn't unusual for a company to create hype about a new product... look at the millions of people that go to car shows to see concept models... these cars never make it to production this way. They are always toned down for production.

It is my experience that Eurocom has had the 2 newest Cleavo models about 2 weeks before Sager.

This being said.... please no viruses or hacking on my account... where's the love?

Haddatti,
WRONG. The only time Sager isn't the first shipping with a model is if there's a technical issue they feel needs fixed before shipping and another company ships anyways with their fingers crossed. That's not to say one is better than the other or point any fingers. With mass shipping and in general, all cases I've seen Sager is always one of the first if not the first. They do the most Clevo volume by FAR compared to the other places you know and have heard of. They don't pick up all models and options Clevo offers, but no company does that I know of. They also try not to release info before they can confirm a pretty solid ship date because they've been burned too many times with it.

OK, So I am open to being corrected BUT! Who shipped the first 500E/5690? From what I have heard it was Eurocom. If this is wrong then tell me... either I was lied to by them or you are misteken on this issue. When did the first 5690 leave the PCT warehouse? I don't mean to start a fight with PCT. I have always said that you are the best customer service company that I know of. You also say that it is Clevo that has burned you in the past with changing release dates and specifications on systems. That is why you don't do it... so who is at fault Clevo or Eurocom. If Eurocom is told that this is being offered by Clevo and they post the info then isn't it Clevo who is misleading the public? Eurocom is only forwarding the info Clevo is giving them. Maybe they should be a bit more careful about what info they release but overall they are trying to get people excited about new technology... everyday people post on this forum is about what new features will be offered and when... the public wants to know what to expect in a year.

Just my thoughts.

In anycase it seems I have stired up a hornets nest and will agree to dissagree on this.

Haddatti,

Note the part where I said
Quote:

Clevo has put out the supplies to actually ship notebooks when there has been a known problem a bios update will likely fix. I've seen Sager hold the orders waiting to make sure it's taken care of while I've seen other companies (not in the US) begin shipping. Let's say *example-hint* if there were an incompatibilty issue with the 5690 and the burner drives working with certain forms of aftermarket software because of the new motherboard revision put out in the 56XX series. It would be easy to go ahead and ship them and assume the chances of your 50 customers trying to use this software in this way causing a problem is small... but then Sager is left with what are the chances of the 1000 units they are about to ship having someone with this problem. If they're responsible they would hold the units and take a hit while others get bragging right of first to ship right?

There's no agree to disagree anywhere as there's no 2 opposing sides to this conversation. I'm being extremely factual here, not a salesman. I have no loyalty to any company I have no direct control over because they could shaft you any time. If I feel a company is pulling crap I don't agree with and is immoral I don't do business with them, you can ask Eurocom that about me as they've seen this happen first hand with PC Torque. There's no hornets nest and nobody mad. I don't know if you guessed that from me writing "WRONG", but I just wanted to make it clear. I'm a very factual and straight forward person some love, some hate. I live by the words "if I'm going to hell, it won't be for lying or deceit" which is something that contrasts to all other computer sales companies I've ever seen. I do have a respect for Eurocom, Sager, and many of the companies around which is why I welcome their talk on the forums. I only jumped in to clear up you're pointing out Sager ships behind another Clevo distro, not to pimp or defend a company.

All right that's fair. Agian This is why I said PCT is the best in Customer service of any Clevo reseller, I have never said otherwise in any of my posts. If there is a problem with my Bios then I shall be mad and I shall raise a hornets nest with Eurocom... and of course I will say "well why didn't you know when PCT knew?"

I don't think Eurocom is being deceitful but then again I don't claim to know anywhere near the detail that you are privy to. And I was only joking about the hornets nest...

I just felt that Eurocom was being bashed a bit to much in this thread. We still cool?
