What software available will back it up and create such a partition on a new HDD? Thanks.

Just use Acronis True Image v10.
Also works with Vista

Ive done it many times on a Aspire 5051

Hey DracUK, would you mind giving the steps for doing that? I kinda destroyed my 5633 WLMI last night by deleting the PQSERVICE parition (it fails to boot and gives an error message). I'm currently restoring (via TrueImage) a backup of my wife's PC (same model) onto my laptop so I can put my original backup on. However, I would like to blat the PQSERVICE partition - how do I do that safely?
