A Fair trade?

Thread Starter
A user on here wants to trade laptops with me.

Mine: MBP
2 GHZ Core Duo
256MB x1600
1GB RAM
100GB HDD
15" LCD

His: Dell e1705
1.86 GHZ Core Duo
512 MB GeForce 7900 GTX
1 GB
100 GB

is that a fair trade?
I'm just frustrated with Mac OSX. When things run slow, I don't know what to do to fix them, or how to do simple tasks like "Disk Defrag" or "Disk Cleanup" (like from Windows) or import just one photo from iPhoto instead of all 144 on my camera.

make sure you see a 1705 in person if possible first. they are damn big. i had a 1505, and saw a 1705, i would NEVER have something that big. going from your PRO, you will regret the decision (size wise)

try to keep your questions in one thread

Spec out the Dell on their website and see what the price comes out to. Also, the dell is 17" so it'll be pretty big, both in size and weight.

You could also just give OS X a couple more tries to fix your issues.

personally, i think youll be happier with the mbp quality.

go to a dell kiosk BEFORE you make the trade. if the size of the 1705 doesnt affect you, go for it, at least you gave the apple a shot.

Also, I'd probably check out the prices and see if your getting a fair/even deal. I'm sure the MBP costs a lot more then the Dell since you can use coupons and what not, but it might be a few hundred dollars more. I would stick with the MBP, imo, if you have a desktop. If the MBP is your only computer, and you really hate using it so much, then I guess I would trade. Do you know how long the Dell has been in use?

think the trade is done?

PM sent as I've got an Asus W3J that I'm looking to sell/trade for a MBPro.

I think it's a fair trade if that's what you're looking for, but as mentioned a 1705 is a big machine and Dell's build quality isn't going to be anywhere near a MBP.
