set up.. yay or nay?

here is what i'm looking at buying.. when do you think ill need to upgrade? what can i expect from it?

m1710
core 2 duo t7600g 2.33 ghz oc'd to 3.21 ghz
oc'd geforce go 7950 gtx 512 mb
4gb 677mhz
100gb 7200rpm
dvd/cd burner
wuxga screen
draft n mini card
bluetooth
what will i be able to do on it that other people's laptops won't?

That's pretty much the maxxed out dell laptop right there. I don't think you'll need to (or be able to) upgrade anything. Unless you want a Blu-Ray drive.

I suggest strongly waiting for the next gen in January or February. It's just around the corner and it will be loads better from the looks of it. I say Nay.

expect to see some good possibilities at the upcoming CES 2007, we're talking much better performance in terms of systems, and with the XPS line, probably not for a whole lot more cash, since the top line now will cost same, and top line then, most likely.

If I told ya I would have to kill ya.... j/k...

Get a d/dock, throw in what ever PCI card you wish (tuner, x-fi, etc..). Then get a bunch of d/bay stuff like dvd drive, extra HD, floppy, etc...

Then you will exceed me... and other than the 7600g and the 7950, im maxxed. WAY MAXXED!!!!

Despite the fact that there will most likely be a great sale on current systems, I would suggest you get latest and greatest if you would be willing to. All I'm trying to suggest is for you to get the longest lifetime out of your system as possible. It's up to you.

I guess it comes down to frugality. Either way, you should wait another month or two. That way, you either get the system you are looking at now for cheaper, or drop the cash on the next version of the XPS'.

Looking like a fun year ahead of us tech wise.

Indeed, seems like a lifetime of 'holding out for the next big thing'. My cell phone even says "Yay Future' when it powers up. I love it so much I even went as far as having a chip and wires tattooed on my neck!

That calls for a pic request Every year is always the same, new stuff "i want it" can't get it, half way through its lifetime i actually buy it, then we start from square 1 again. How I love this process, I do not know.

Just tech in general. Technology is what keeps us evolving. Unfortunately we have reached a point where the average person wouldn't even know what to do without it.
