I think I already know the answer to this, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway. This is my mom's machine, tm4402 I think.
Symptom 1: I didn't see this exactly, but she says when playing a DVD after about 20 minutes it just freezes up.
Symptom 2: Burning CDs only goes to about 1/4 toward the inside of the CD then gets an error and quits. Did that twice in a row.
Additional troubleshooting: when burning only like a 10mb CD, it works just fine. My guess is this: something is wrong with the motor or something that moves the lens, and it can only get to that point of the disc. Is there a way to test that theory? Anyone else have an experience like this with a different solution? If not, has anyone taken their tm4402 apart and can give me tips?
