The BEST and CHEAP place to buy an 17" WUXGA?? Pls! =(

My dad recently bought an e1705! But WGXA+ was a mistake, this is a poor screen. I would like to help him finding a good and secure place to buy one UltraSharp Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife for his e1705.

I would be very thankful if someone could help me.

Thanks.

Here's a little something to get you started on searching.

http://search.ebay.com/search/search...lcd&category0=

Two of those look like they're e1705/9400 LCD's, but they're both specified as Samsungs (part # CF176 to be precise, I think that is the SEC 5557, which is usually a pretty crappy panel).

I also responded to your PM.

He UltraCow, thanks for reply. Yes, I saw the PM, I've read and replied too! hehe.

Anyone else?!

Thanks.

edit: If even you don't know where should I buy, but you know well about the best models, please, leave me a Model # and infos about it, so I could search in some resellers, thx.

Got my Philips wuxga from a seller named "loveprettysmile". A lot of history, good feedback, deals in Dell parts and LCDs, and I got a great screen.
$400.00 plus shipping. It's new. Don't expect to pay less for a new one, and I wouldn't trust a used one. Factory refurbs have to pass specs & such, but I've never seen more than I six month warranty offered on them.

if you're going to pay $400, you might be better off ordering directly from dell parts. I think that is the price of an wuxga screen.

Actually DELL parts would charge about 500 ish for a wuxga screen BUT you would get the quality backinf dell warranty should something terrible happen like the screen suddenly dying or such.

I got a warranty with the one I bought on ebay. Three years for $35 or so. It was offered to me automatically in the cpurchase confirmation email.

Anyone know about the LP171WU1 17.0" WUXGA (A4)(K2), DPN: J9662 ??

I've seen some people saying in eBay that this model isn't compatible with e1705/9400, others people saying that isn't compatible only when using 7900GS/GTX or higher... Could someone tell me with sure?!

Thanks

I've never heard of that part number being used with the 9400, so my guess would be that it's not compatible (I have a hunch that part # is for the 9300).

There are a couple of reasons why LCD's of the same size can be incompatible, usually starting with the cable (the one that goes from the panel to the graphics card), and it's commonly because different brands have the cable wired differently (even though the cable is physically the same) so that you can't use LCD's from other brands without re-wiring the cable (a PIA if it's even possible). Aside from that there can also be issues related to the graphics card, but it's usually due to the cable wiring.

No, it's not compatible. I think you should find DPN HH258 for Inspiron 9400. DPN J9662 and WC222 inverters are different from Inspiron 9400 inverter. You still can install J9662 and WC222, but the Quickset won't work anymore, so you can't adjust brightness. However, you might get lucky if you use the Inspiron 9400 inverter. Some people can use the J9662 and WC222 with swapping the inverter.

I heard DPN HH258 is 30% brighter than WC222. Can anyone confirm this? I also heard that DPN HH258 is LG Phillips V2, so is it better than J9662/WC222? Do all DPN J9662 and WC222 prone to vertical line problem? I have WC222 and I'm worried if I might get vertical line problem someday.

How recent? Send it back and get a new laptop the way he wants it if it's recent enough?

Another LG-Philips WUXGA LCD that is usable on the E1705/9400 is DF028.

Yep, I can confirm that as that's what I have. It's the V1 LG panel, and aside from the crosshatch dealie (which I believe all the current LG's have), after color adjustment, it's quite nice.

Well... let me see If I understood. If I get the e1705 original inverter and use with J9662, will it work?

Hmm, unfortunately It's from 10/30/2006, I don't know if Dell would be willing to trade my screen for a WUXGA one even paying the original U$129 difference.

Yup,

The J9662 will work with 9400 inverter. YMMV.
