Those are my roommate's drums.

She actually had borrowed a set of djembes from a friend a few weeks ago, so we had them in the apartment for several days. Guess who they reminded me of every time I went into the living room.

I posted in your review thread!

Too bad you got some dead pixels with yours. I have noticed one thing with mine lately--the screen buzzes. If I move it around a bit the buzzing goes away, comes back, then slowly fades on its own.

I just got a second battery too. Now it lasts throughout my 8-5 days on campus without needing to be plugged in.

LMK if you ever come across a fan control program that works with the 5460's hardware. The fan is driving me nuts--it's blowing ice cold air but it's on full blast!

Yup I agree with the fans. But let me tell you, it could be A LOT worse. My Alienware Sentia 223 did the same thing.. only it was HOT air AND it made the keyboard HOT to the touch. The smaller these laptops get the hotter they get. No room for heatsinks like in my 5750.

There is a heatsink in our 5460's. It's pretty decent-sized for that laptop too. Sager definitely took all the steps necessary to make sure these laptops never overheat.

Since I'm nearing the last quarter of my warranty, I've contacted Sager about a few issues with the laptop that should be addressed:

>The screen still buzzes (not that I thought that would go away on its own). It seems to have its good and bad days--for several days in a row, the buzzing will only be very quiet and goes away in just a few seconds, but then one day it will be LOUD and won't stop. My experiences lead me to assume this is coming from the inverter.
>I'm not entirely happy with the wireless performance. At school I have a hard time getting an IP, and it happens at home occasionally as well (my school uses an a and b network, at home I have g). The ability of the card to detect signal strength is not entirely to my satisfaction. I'm pretty sure both issues are hardware related at this point.
>The keyboard is a bit off...I've noticed that some keys (most noticeably the O, E and N keys) are not nearly as sensitive as they should be, causing them not to register when I type on them all of the time. I am not a super-light typer, either.

I have no idea what they will think of this, but since I live in the area, I have asked them if I could drive there and drop off the laptop to them, and if this might speed up the process in any way (of course it saves shipping time at the very least). I don't deserve special treatment from Sager over any other customer, but maybe if I am breathing down their backs....

And to make this post even longer, I have a sad story. My laptop's case was fuglified in a travel mishap (which, by the way, wasn't my fault...). The top part of the case behind the screen is scratched to all hell. I'm more than likely going to give it to a buddy of mine who said he'd sand it down and paint it for me once I pick out the colors. At the moment I'm leaning towards a slate gray/blue with ridiculous amounts of clearcoat on top.

Well, Sager got back to me and said they need 5 business days for warranty repairs. Looks like I'll have to swing by and drop it off before too long and leave my lappy there.

Good Luck Nyako. I hope that it will be a quick process so that you can have you laptop back soon.

The laptop is gone. Hopefully it will be finished soon. I have the slight temptation to call them on Monday (the next business day) morning and ask them if it's done yet, like so many of my customers do. Oh, to be ignorant.

The laptop was finished and picked up on Thursday. I haven't gotten a chance to use it for an extended period of time to test everything out, but it appears that I get a much better wireless signal at home now.

Sager replaced the wireless card, keyboard, mobo and cpu fan. They replaced the mobo because they couldn't replicate my KB issue and wanted to cover all the bases. They also said the buzzing issue is normal, as long as it goes away soon after Windows starts.

Wow. Hopefully ev'thing's been squared away. Definitely like to see what you get done paint-wise

Thanks, FT. Unfortunately, there is still an issue with the wireless. It's getting a signal, but the signal is very weak. Since everything else has been replaced, I'm going to take a look at the antenna for any weird issues...

...Well, the problem turned out to be a mishap at the factory with plugging in the wireless antennas...The antennas are now connected properly, and wireless is better than ever.
