System Restore WITHOUT apps?

Thread Starter
I just bought an HP laptop which did not come with install disks, though I was able to burn recovery disks straight from the computer after my initial boot. Like most people, I hate all the crapware that comes installed and my intention was to do a complete wipe of the system and restore JUST the basic OS and then restore apps individually as needed. But there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. The recovery process never gave me that option. Does anybody know a way to do this?

I know I can just remove apps one by one once they're loaded, but I always get hesitant about that, worried that there are artifacts left behind that never actually get deleted. I'd rather they just not be there to begin with.

Incidentally, this is an HP dv6130us.

I can't help you with the correct procedure for a clean install with an HP laptop - unless you have your own copy of Windows. But, if you want to go the uninstall route, in case you're not aware already, a Registry cleaner will make the job much more thorough. There are several pretty good freebies, and you can also download trial versions usually good for 14-30 days.

I use TweakNow and RegSeeker and both seem to work well. Also, CCleaner does a good job of cleaning up loose ends.
