Has ANYONE received a 9100?

We've seen scattered reports of some people getting their XPS', but not one that has received a 9100. Is there anyone out there that has taken delivery of one?

We've seen the XPS ship dates pushed back dramatically (Mid-April!!!???), but I haven't seen anyone reporting a change of ship date on a 9100.

I know that I will not see my unit ship on the 23rd as scheduled, I'd just like a realistic date. This checking every day stuff is the pits.

I believe the 9100's are pushed back as well, nice job Dell! whoo hoo!

Well, depending on your point of view its a good thing that they've been pushed back... for one, its gives Dell a chance to work out these issues the ATI M11 was having on the XPS, a problem that likely also would have been present in i9100 systems.

Which would be fine, if there was SOME communication of a problem, delay or issue. However, there has been NO statement from Dell at all regarding this.

This has lead to hypothesis and conjecture building to a point where people are cancelling orders before their original ship dates come about - does that make financial sense for Dell?

I'm getting close to my original ship date, but I'm going to ride it out. I'll wait until the 23rd and then start calling. It doesn't matter to me, I bought the 4 year warranty extension with accident coverage. They're going to have to deal with me until 2008. IF they want to start out like this, then it will be on my terms for the rest of the relationship.

Dell have always been tight-lipped about problems, and why products are delayed, etc.... so this is no different from any other issue that has come around (another recent one was the problem with the Hitachi WSXGA displays).
I say you have got the 4 year warrenty, absolutely ride them on any issues that you have.

I believe that atleast one person on this website has recieved a I9100, I think his name is Decto. He got his from Dell Canada, and I do believe that he is having the same lock up issue's as some of the XPS owners.

I think a better thing to do would be to test the systems extensively before even making them available to the public. Or make sure enough parts were available (if we choose to believe what Dell representatives say). Just a humble suggestion.

My money is the 9100's are suddenly getting those Lock ups the XPS is getting and delay is applied where its needed

Hey, I fully agree with you. But the fact is that they have released them to the public (God only knows how they didn't detect these issues in testing). So all I was saying is that now that they are aware of the issue at least they are not proceeding in sending the faulty systems out, and are working on a solution (hopefully)

Yes but has anyone "confirmed" they are working on the problem? From all I have heard, they keep saying they are waiting on parts! Lets hope they DO know of the problem and ARE working on it. For all we know, there is some parts shortage, battery or GPU or whatever, and Dell has not yet got the message that the lockups are occuring. I mean to the extent that they have halted all production to fix that problem. Again, if they would tell us "we have stopped production to address an issue that has come up" then we could all rest easier that they are trying to give us working laptops and not covering it with a "parts shortage" issue.

I spoke to my guy in the "notifications" dept again today and he confirmed that some systems are starting to "trickle" out as they get good batteries in... he told me that's all my system is waiting on according to the manufacturing dept and that it "may" ship out tomorrow (WOOHOO)... but I'm not counting on it at this stage either... as I've said before, this guy seems very legit and is making the effort to find out what's going on...

No 9100's have shipped yet in the USA according to Gerald Thomas (the engineer I've been talking to at dell). I'm sure he COULD be wrong, but he seemed pretty certain about it today...

I mentioned to him today that one person on these forums has the same lockup issue with his 9100/Radeon 9700 that the XPS has been suffering.

*shrug*
