RAM problem?

Thread Starter
So, I had a problem with my keyboard on my 8790 about a month ago, and it has resolved in that five of my keys don't work, can't start my wireless, but everything else was going ok.

Until the last week....whenever I start my computer if it has been off of power, the RAM check is much slower than normal, it says there is a problem (I forget exactly what it says), and then the time is reset in windows. If the computer remains plugged in, the next time I start it everything is fine. It is only if I disconnect powerthat the initial RAM check is very slow, and the clock is reset.

Any ideas? Is my RAM going bad? The computer will be three years old in April, and I am hoping for it to hold out a little longer, but I don't really want to fork out anymore to keep it going.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
jandigi

CMOS Battery comes to mind as the likely problem. I'd start there. For testing the memory, download MEMTEST86 at http://www.memtest86.com/

Build a bootable CD-ROM and then reboot - Memtest86 will take it from there.
