ps3s are in - Page 60

you could always buy it and use the blu-ray player as an excuse..

play every once in a while when you get a break(although I'm sure those don't come by often for you )

In the end seeing as how I just bought a blu ray burner for my laptop, I'd be getting a PS3 purely for the Blu Ray and watching movies, with ideas of playing games on the side as an added bonus. Just a real big bonus.

Now the Wii is different. It's the first real family entertainment system. My four year old got 3 strikes in a row on Wii bowling. My 6 year old beat me in Wii bowling in his first ever Wii experience. Even my wife likes to box and do other Wii stuff. And she's said many times that she hates video games and always warns me to watch the boys' "screen time".

Maybe if I were independently wealthy and could just take a month off and play PS3 or something...

Still the eye candy is tough to resist; despite all I just said I may end up getting one.

Another testimonial for the Wii

That's the part the hardcore gamers just can't understand. They can't believe a game system with "crappy" graphics can actually be superior.. Funny thing is that pretty much every Wii owner has no problem understanding it..

I went to visit some family two weeks ago and one of them had a cookout for his birthday (he is like 27 or something). I was surprised to hear that nearly everyone there was a Wii fan. About half of them owned a Wii and the other half wanted to buy one because of how fun it was to play at friends houses. The family member that threw the party had the Wii, 360 and ps2 hooked up. I heard some chatter about 360 gaming, and about the only chatter I heard about the ps3 is in conversations when the people were talking about wanting to buy a blue-ray player.

I only recall one person not liking the Wii out of the 25'ish people that were there. He had the attitude of "If I wanted to bowl, I'd go bowling. I don't know why you guys are bowling w/ a video game." ... of course the response was that it was fun, they could do it at home and they could drink while bowling and didn't have to pay to bowl. (i mention bowling because that just happened to be the game they were playing while he complained)

Anyway, I had to throw this story up. I hadn't got to chit chat about games with that mix of gamers and non-gamers in awhile and it was interesting to hear their take on the whole console situation.

Edit: Ahh, there was also chit chat about the ps2. Someone brought over God of War for him to play, so their was some rave about how good a game that was. I also got to try out that ps2 game where you roll around and get bigger from objects that stick to you. It was ... odd.

God of War is hands down the best game to come out for consoles in the past 3 years

I never owned a PS2, I was thinking about picking up a PS3 and running through the older PS2 games that are oldies but goodies. But I often find that I don't have the time or I'm not at home.

WOWW, you guys are still posting in this thread lol....Well I ended up selling my PS3 with games/remote/blueray for 660$ and I had about 650$ invested, so no complaints there.

Great system, great games, but I wanted another RC Airplane

Nothing really IG. It was fun but not all that Duke is making it to be.

they were two of the highest praised games on the PS2... and IMO the 2nd best game for PS2.

what was revolutionary about it? I remember the ads. Looked good, but just your typical 3D sprite running around killing things right?

The gameplay is awesome. The graphics are awesome. The story is awesome. Pretty much everything about the game is awesome and better then any game before it. (With the same gameplay that is)

I'd say if a person enjoys the adventure / beat'm up games, enjoy the whole mythology aspect of the story (medusa, titans, etc), then they would most likely love God of War. Its rare that a game this good comes out. They had both great graphics and great story, which is a combo that developers don't seem to pull off that often. It had a great amount of violence and the main character is as cool as Conan. It seemed like they used the controls to their fullest as well.

That does look pretty darn sweet. It's definitely my type of game. I loved Planetside back a few years ago, but it was definitely missing the depth and persistence of other MMO's. No missions and such made it seem like just another shooter, no achievement of 'advancing' your character besides new certifications, which were old in like 2 hours. Besides, I'm getting fed up waiting for Huxley, which may or may not ever actually come out, and may or may not flop with the lack of buzz it's gotten.
Unfortunately, my Ideal MMO has and probably never will be made. It would combine the crafting/user-economy and open ended life of Star Wars Galaxies, with the gameplay of Planetside. Or some such.

My favorite gaming experience ever was in Planetside. I was helping defend a base, probably about 100 of us, while being attacked by about 100 of the enemy. I was manning the ramparts with about 15 others above the outside wall, with my sniper rifle, just picking people off as they approached. Below, at the entry our infantry and their infantry were going at it, while tanks were fighting out in the field. And it was a 100% online player created scene. It was just cool to envision the whole experience, and I'm always hoping another game comes along that can supplant that moment as my favorite.

I really don't see the light. i think it's a well known fact on MMO's that unless they get the 'critical mass' of people taht sign on at the beginning, they don't make it. And with the years of development, I think the buzz is gone for it to survive. Have you heard anything about it in the last 6 months?
