Good evening all,

Just thought I'd keep everyone informed on how my ordering expirience with AW is going. It's very odd to say the least, but not in a bad way (I don't think). Anyway, I ordered my 51m saturday morning (March 13, 04) over the phone. The process was fairly smooth. The only hickups were understanding my sales rep, due to his thick accent. For the rest of the weekend my order stayed at Phase 1. This morning (Monday), I called AW to see if I needed to do anything else, like confirm. They said no, and to expect the order to be shipped in about seven days. I'm at work now, it's 3:30PM, still monday, and I just checked my order. It's now at Phase 14!!!!! That's all 14 phases, shipped in less than 3 days!!! Now I am excited, but also a little worried. What do you guys think. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Alienware has drastically reduced there ship times recently. Must be due to after the holiday rush. I ordered mine beginning of February and received it in less than two weeks.

Is this sort of thing common with AW? Telling you that your notebook is at phase 14 then taking it back to phase 1?

Posts: 10 WOW!!!! That's about the only thing I can say right now. I'll explain as soon as my blood pressure comes down....(sorry for the teaser)

To be honest, the only time shipping times get crazy is when something new comes out, can't make computers when the parts get bought out in the first 3 hours their on the web!

Its already been a day.... I do hope for the sake of your health that your blood pressure has come down. Or else you are probably dead or in the hospital. Haha.

Posts: 10 Update: Ok, i've calmed down. After the phase mess up, I called to verify that a "free shipping" deal I negotiated was being applied. I argued with the guy I got for 10 mins. He was telling me that no such deal could be honered. All I wanted him to do was transfer me to my sales rep. Which finally he did. Another 30 mins of argueing, and being put on hold so he could "confir" with his manager, the deal is going to be honored. So I guess the lesson here is for prospective buyers, don't be affraid to negotiate for a better deal, but be ready to stick to your guns. However, a new problem has me worried. My order was placed on Saturday morning. It's now tuesday afternoon, and I'm still on phase 1. I called AW to see if it was waiting for me to do something like confirm the order but they said everything was in order. Is this normal. I know I'm probably over-reacting, but I'm trying to stay patient. lol. Thanks for the moral support guys. Have a good day.

Posts: 10 WEDNESDAY AND STILL IN PHASE 1!!!!! WTF!!!!! I'm starting to believe all the SH!@Y Things i heard about AW now. Sales rep can't tell me ANYTHING!!!!! This sucks!!!! There's no way a 3000 dollar laptop is worth this SH#@T!!!!

Take a look at the Phase section, they seem to be having some problems with their phase site. You may post this in there, it might make you feel better, don't know though. I wouldn't get to po'ed, refer to your first statement about getting it too soon and would that alarm anyone. Getting one in a week would probably alarm me.

Granted their saying a week, so if you see it in 2 or 3 and your computer works well, the extra week or so will be worth it. At least it would for me. Looking at other sites and delivery times, your not going to get one much sooner unless you go retail, and that is more of an act of desperation.

Posts: 10 Thanks for the moral support LurkingJayhawk. I know I probably over-reacted, but after talking on the phone with these guys, I come away with utter frustration. But you are right on every point. Sorry for releasing my vent on everyone.

Posts: 10 Well it's the close of buisness for AW on Wed. night and I'm still on phase 1. I just called and again with very broken english was told that it is in phase 1, but with no freaking clue as to why. They have one more day, and Jose loses his comission. Maybe instead of making sure that their CRAP gets good reviews on TechTV, AW should focus a little more on customer support, and more importantly the CUSTOMERS!!!!! Like firing all the morons that answer the phones and read a script and hire some people that can COMUNICATE with the customer and answer what ever questions are asked of them. YOU SUCK AW!!!!! You have one more day!!!! Freaking ridiculous!!!!! GOD!!!!! Is anyone even sure that AW is located in America. I'm not convinced. I better quit now before I say anymore. Have a good night guys!!!

Sounds like you're getting a bum steer there mate. I ordered mine through the UK site (I'm in Australia) and the two reps I've delt with have been good. They've always gotten back to me with an answer pretty quickly. I have no complaints about their customer service so far.

I hope your situation improves!
