How to insert Mobile Athlon XP into Socket A on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo K7600 lapto

Can anyone help with a problem? I'm having trouble replacing a Mobile Athlon XP 2600+ on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo K7600 laptop?

The laptop ran hot and melted the AC input jack along with the female socket it plugged into on the motherboard. I've got a replacement motherboard and taken the laptop apart. I'm having a problem when I come to putting the CPU back into the new motherboards socket A

Once I've placed the CPU into the Socket A (it drops in loosely) there isn't a lever to do the final bit of insertion - i.e. to push the pins into the clamps, like I'm used to with a desktop processor and socket. There's just the socket itself and a small sliver of plastic that fits between an edge of the processor and one of bits of plastic sticking up from the side of the socket A. I know how it needs to be when it's inserted (socket with processor in it and sliver of plastic pushing (laterally) the pins against their holes, I just don't know how to get it there

Anyone know how to replace it? Images are below if they help

this is one of the crazy one socket. u need to use a flat head screw driver and push (yes, cpu and base) toward the "lock" (arrow) to snap it in - i hope that u did push the other way when removing the cpu instead of prying it up

cheers ...
