Has anyone played Battlefield Vietnam on the 8600? If so how is it. I am thinking about trading in my Gateway M675 for a 8600. Good Idea?

for gaming? you will definetly enjoy the 8600's advantage over the M675 but if you really liek your gateway i dont see why you should trade in since its VERY capable of running 1942 id imagine

I think the reason I am getting some lag on BF is due to only having a 64MB ATI Card. I bought it from the home shopping network. If I bought an 8600 what would be my best config. for the money? Thanks oh wise one

1.4ghz ( dont let that number scare you its faster than it looks)
512mb ram
Radeon 9600 Pro turbo
60gb 7200 rpm hardrive
wxga screen
3 yr mail in warrenty

with these basic specs you can pretty much make or break any minimum requirements for a game out now and at this point for under 2k

Dr Strangelove, do you have AA and AF turned on by chance? On my desktop (radeon 9800 pro), I get major graphical corruption with AA and AF turned on. I asked my friend if he was having the same issues, he said he's been reading on message boards that it is a common problem, and that EA is aware of the issue and has commented that they never claimed BF Vietnam supported AA and AF.

After turning off AA and AF, I've had a few other problems (random graphics slowdowns, weird sound glitches, the game sometimes refusing to exit), but for the most part these are common symptoms of a game rushed out the door too quickly. Hopefully they'll release a patch soon, BFV sure could use one.

the game is a singleplayer joke, and i rarely play online because i like to relax with games only a few times a week.

But i have farcry running on the 8600.

havent found the right configuration yet, but 1920x1200, environment on high and rest on middle and some on low.

Can someone give me the fps (or approx fps) that BFV runs on the i8600 w/ M10? I am going to get it soon and am wondering how playable its gonna be. Also, how good/ bad does it look? Does it offer widescreen resolutions for our screens? Thanks,
stu

Yes... that is the problem I am having on my desktop system (ATI 9800 XT). During the game weird things are happening like my gun disappearing, rainbow colored textures, weird things just popping up out of nowhere, etc. If I remember correctly I think I do have AA & AF trurned on so I will disable them and give it another try.

BFV is playing perfectly on my iXPS!

Yep, those are the exact same problems I had Geed. Disabling AA and AF fixed them.

Funny error, at one point I was firing my gun near a tree, and somehow the tree graphic got "stuck" to my gun, so I'm running around and I can't see half the screen because it's blocked by a moving tree ;D

No I do not have AA and AF enabled.....I am us\ing the latest OMEGA drivers and have an Inspiron8600 1.7 with ATI9600Pro.

I think this may be a speed step problem OR the game just sucks.....b/c even at lowest quality settings I still get some slow down?

agree with you there, gotta love all the new games supporting widescreen 1920x1200 farcry at a lan today was so fun, ut2k4 is still better though

I think battlefield vietnam just has a lot of glitches and needs a patch to fix them. While playing on my Gateway M675 I saw a couple times where a jet was stuck in mid air just hovering. Come on EA you can do better than that!

My 8600 runs bfv without any problems.

I'm running BFV on my I8200 with an M9. It runs smooth enough at 800x600, with graphics on medium.

Well, I got BF:V today, and am not impressed with the glitches so far. Loving the multiplayer gameplay over the LAN..... but they really did not put enough time into this game and it shows.
I'm running it at 1280 x 1024 with most game detail on high (no shadows or light mapping), with AA and AF on Application preference... and it runs pretty choppy, not too mention jaggy because of the lack of AA and AF.
I ran it before with AA and AF on, at 1024 x 768 and it looked much better, but of course graphical glitches a plenty.
It really needs a fix for the graphics issues, because If I can get it to play well on 1024 x 768 w/ AA and AF then I'll be happy, so fingers crossed.
