Don't bet on it. It'll be several months before these ship.

Glad I haven't bought yet. I'm going to hold out for this system to ship so I can get vista and I wanted a m9700 but with dual core since I do more than just gaming so this is perfect. The black is very nice with the alienhead but I hope they offer other colors still like with the m9700 for people to choose from (I may still go blue) I wish they'd consider doing red also.

Yeah it would be cool to have it in Ferrari red or something. But anyway it's been a while for me to post in these forums and i have been waiting for a system like this. But the article about the DX10 cards only for the 800mhz FSB worries me, because i want DX10 and i am sure most of the guys in here do to. So maybe they are delaying or waiting for a couple months to surprise us with the CD2 with 800mhz at least i hope so. But anyways this is a sweet laptop.

All I have to say about this system is probably sometime later this fall I may pick one up.

Keep the current m9700 as an actual mobile system and use the m9750 or a dedicated desktop replacement and get a 30" monitor, that is if they end up fixing the stupid wiring problem so that way our lappy can actually be hooked up to a dual dvi monitor.

Alienware has hit a homerun with this thing and every review so far from the CES show has something to say about both the m9750 and the m5750 special edition. I see a real good future for alienware in the coming days.

Proud to own my very own alien.

Wow... getting an Alienware was a one time deal for me.. took me years to save up. Dn't know how you all get the money to buy these machines but if you wanna send some money my way I havn't had a good meal in ages lol.... *edit* according to Cnet: The icing on the component cake is the price: Though it's subject to change before the laptop's official release later this quarter, Alienware tells us they're striving to bring the Area 51 m9750 to market for less than $2,000--which would make it one of the most affordable gaming laptops available. Still outta my price range (unless I could return the m9700 for full refund....) but cheaper than I thought... I assume the mALX is still a better computer considering that it is 4k...?
The mALX being better would refer to the fact that it is a 19"monitor with wicked sweet paint job. However the m9750 will have the latest and greatest Geforce Go cards of which I don't think the mALX has yet. Also it will have intel Duo which the mALX only has a turion 2.4ghz processor.

Give it a couple months and the 20.1 inch mALX with dual 7950gtx go cards and a dual intel will come out as well because you know anyone who paid over 4k for one already will be biotchin' up a storm if alienware comes out with the 9750 and it is better than the mALX.
Better is subjective.

The m9750 with dual 7950gtx's will likely outperform the current mALX, but the revision coming will see the X2 turion processor, DDR2 memory, a 20.1" screen and I'd imagine the 7950gtx's as well, so the performance should be similar.
And, I'm guessing the sub $2000 version is going to be with minimum specs, not SLI. BUT - it will still be a great system if it has a 7950GTX in it.

As far as I can see, it's still not up on the Alienware site.
I wonder if it will include Draft N wireless configuration as the standard... or even as an upgrade

With no release date, and no price? DELL is reported to underclock their 7950 GTX's in their systems, so are you really going to be getting what you pay for?

I mean, I have a 20.1" dual full 7950 GTX system (full clocks), and honestly, I would prefer my 17" 7950 GTX Executioner system over it. The performance is only slightly better and that is with the cooling that a MUCH larger chassis affords. When you can play the most advanced games at the highest settings without issue with a single card system that is less money, what more do you need?

Battlefield 2142 is graphically very intensive and requires a good video card and sub system to play at medium to high settings without overheating the system or causing stutter and unplayable framerates and that would be the requirements for a desktop system to play the game. Notebooks are generally less powerful than their larger sibling the desktop and as such do not usually play graphically intensive games as well. The Executioner breaks the trend and delivered amazing results.
Gameplay in Battlefield 2142 was ultra smooth as even with the highest settings and running a resolution of 1600x1200 with 4x Antialiasing in the game menu (max) while having the Nvidia 7950 GTX using 8xS Antialiasing and 16x Anisotropic Filtering the Executioner provided 33-35 frames per second on average. This is amazing as we had everything maxed out graphic wise.

There is something to be said for dual video cards, but look at the Alienware m9700 with dual 7900 GS cards. My Executioner trounces it with a single 7950 GTX. On paper, it shouldn't, but in the real world it is a different story. That is not just me saying it, here is the TechWareLabs review on it: http://www.techwarelabs.com/reviews/...n-executioner/ the thing was killed.
I wouldn't get pumped about a dual 7950 GTX in a 17" chassis just yet if your budget is anything near what it is going to need to be to afford this Alienware. Do yourself a favor and consider "the words" I wrote about this at GuruOfGaming before you make a decision on a notebook you saw at CES.

Nice to see someone from killernotebooks sales team stop by.

Your "executioner" has a dual core processor in it, as well as a 7950gtx, and though the article doesn't mention it it appears to be overclocked, so of course it's going to do well in 3dMark benchmarks. Comparing your hardware to a single core processor running gs cards isn't exactly the same thing now is it?

Come back when the m9750 is up and has comparable hardware and tell us all how your Clevo laptop you can get cheaper through Sager "trounces" the m9750... LOL... Better yet spend some time working on your website, it's nearly impossible to read.

By the way, you're not the first small time manufacturer that's come in here badmouthing AW products to sell their wares, WidowPC amongst others have been here before, and they've been banned for advertising their products in the forums as you are, as it's against the forum terms.

It's unfortunate that you can't get any press at CES, and that you feel the need to badmouth AW's m9750 to try to suck some interest away from your competitors obviously superior product.
Well, that review he posted doesn't actually give the specs on the m9700 compared to, by the look of it it was a decked out version, but what isn't mentioned is that to get the higher performance over the m9700 you OC the hardware. Like HH mentioned that you can get around the same benchmarks with the m9700 if you OC it, but if you can get performance out of a machine without the risk of OC it why would you take that risk?

Both systems with a 1 year warranty. There was no pricing for an extension to 2 years for his notebook, AW offers up to 3 years.

In order to get the Raid 0 config you cant get his system with a built in CD/DVD drive as the second bay is used for the other hard drive.

Not to mention that it weighs about 2.5 - 3 lbs more than the m9700.

There might be a few horror stories about support issues, for the most part revolving around AW machines other than the m9700. I had my share of issues, but it all worked out in the end. Personally I would rather deal with some inconvenience with the support at AW with the "800 lb. gorilla" behind it then trust a smaller company.

The blatant attempt at a sales pitch isn't appreciated.
Exactly... My overclocked m9700 (11,026 in 05) "trounces" his overclocked system, even with his multi-core processor advantage, so what's the point of his post? To mislead people and try to steal potential AW customers with this BS.

You will be able to configure the new m9750 with an array of Core 2 Duo processors, and choose from single card solutions to SLI, so you'll be able to match or easily excede anything that company can put out, overclocked or not.
I get 10k+ on 3dMark05 on a non-overclocked 9700. Not sure how the executioner "trounces" it.

Add that to the fact that I've never heard of KillerNotebooks, makes the 9700 the winner in my book.
I also got 10k+ with my m9700 stock ...

Hey ... I admit, I buy Alienware because I do like the styling as well as the performance ... call me shallow, but I like my lil' Alien Head
