I need a Laptop without compromise!!!

I’m an embedded system engineer. And an amatuer graphics programmer. Most of the time my work involves programming with 3D-Max. But as a profession, i’m much into embedded system programming. Apart from this i love video editing and web page designing. When i say web page designing, its not the usual stuff!! I work with higher-end stuffs like CSS, Javascript, PHP, DHTML, XML, Flash and high-end web graphics. I’m planning to buy a laptop. I prefer watching movie with 16:9 aspect ratio with good sound effects like the 3D technology (Like Dolby). I’m a frequent traveller.

Thats about sweet me. Now help me in this, What should i expect in a Laptop for the best result? And suggest a good model.

My budget is aprrox. $2900 (around INR 1,25,000)

Why do you prefer Sony? IMO people will be able to help you more if you give screen size, resolution, GPU preferences, do you want something that has a business look? Now if you have NO idea what you even need to do what you want then ok that is fine you'll have to trust us. I would say look at the Dell M90 if you don't like the look of it then check out the new ASUS V1JP.

hey, tats a pretty good configuration..... but it weighs 2.7kg, isn't tat pretty heavy? .... and i guess it doesn't have a DVD writer.... as i have mentioned tat i'm an extreme 3D graphics programmer, saving my projects into a DVD would be better appreciated....

it DOES have DVD-RW drive for $2000 I will, trust me (if you weren't talking about the ASUS then n/v.)

Lol, i'm guessing you'll be happy with the more consumer-friendly models available with windows media center edition- something like a compaq presario. I think the Nvidia Quadro, dual core laptops might not be extreme enough for your needs.

Well, I can tell you that my Vaio preference is the SZ series. Light, quick, great screen.

There are few negative issues, I'm assuming you have searched the forums (not just this one). As for the sound, like most notebooks, it really sucks unless you use ear phones. Only notebooks that sound good from SONY is the AR series (my opinion, but even those and Toshiba Qosmio’s don’t sound that hot), but are too heavy.

You NEED to play with all. After a six months of playing with the latest machines I grabbed the SZ and fell in love (^_^)

I have the older model to that and it is a very nice notebook. I think a 13.3 inch screen is where it is not too small but not too big.

As much as I hate the company Dell. They now make the best laptop, The XPS pro,
but its going to cost you over $7000.00
and its about 60 lbs
we use one with Turbocad pro and Autocad 2007 of mine has one and I must say. Its one hell of a laptop. Its faster then My desktop.
