Dell's in your laptop, airbrushing your WoW art -- in honor of the upcoming World of Warcraft Burning Crusade expansion release on January 16, they again commissioned artist Mike Lavalee to airbrush two limited edition XPS M1710 laptops with BC-inspired art; the lappies will be auctioned off to benefit World Harvest, an international humanitarian relief organization. For the non-addicted uninitiated, the artwork depicts the two new Blood Elf and Drainei races to be released in the expansion in the process of totally pwning each other. It'll be interesting to see how much these actually fetch on auction, as ironically the people who'd want them most may be unemployed and living in Mom's basement financially challenged.

Wowee - that sure is PURDY!!! Anyone gonna bid?

I wonder why they would choose a game that
A: doesn't require a beefy computer and B: is getting kinda old? I guess it's still madly popular, but seems like it would be more profitable from a marketing standpoint to do like Call of Duty 3, or Warhammer Online or something. Still cool though.

Nice computer! I wouldn't mind having that in my office. Nice post.

Man I want that! And I don't even play WOW!

I wouldn't mind getting it for free. I'd only get it if I were a fan. Never played WOW as well.

Well, since WoW is the most popular video game on the planet (unfortunately) it not only has the widest range of potential buyers for the laptop, but also as is the MMO's tendency to attract kooks and addicts of the most sexually deprived kind those buyers are also willing to bid very high for it. I could see it selling for a lot. And as for it getting old, that's why the expansion's coming out.

They gave away similar machines during a contest for actual WoW players.... I didnt win ='(
hmmm to bid or not to bid.... :: rummages through savings ::

A. It is the most popular game

B. If you actually read the article you would see that it is for WoW The burning crusades which hasnt even released yet, so old it is not.

I don't like Dell's style.. the art looks cool and all,m but I feel like I'm one of the few who doesn't like how the laptops themselves look >.>

Anyways. Yeah, WoW is pretty awesome.. who cares how old the game is..

People play Mario, it's pretty damn old, it's pretty damn fun. Fin.

Are you serious? IMO the M1710s are some of the nicest looking laptops available. The Prez

I am not a fan of dell's laptops either aesthetics-wise. I have used an m1710 before and its just another e1705 with a disco show built in. Cant deny Dells ability to stuff the performance into their laptops.

Looks are more subjective than anything, but you can turn off the lights if you want and it still looks good (at least to me), or only keep 2 on, for example in blue. I think its possible to see an elegance to the i9400, with its black/white and silver styling and use of chrome. Also the big Dells, unlike some other notebooks have no visible screws, you have to flip them upside down to them on the base.
