Sorry to vent my anger here BUT..

i just called sager sales and asked if i could upgrade my 8890V to 2gig of ram
and a USA TV card...

The first guy i talked to could not understand what i was on about
then the phone went dead..so i rang again..

i told the second guy i had been cut off so could he help me out...

i told him what model i had and what i wanted...
then he spent 10 mins going on about me having a 15" screen wtf
i told him i had a 16.1 " UXGA screen and did not need another one...

but he would not have it..kept going on about a diffrent screen...

so i had to stop him there(yes i did talk slow and nice)

and told him again what i wanted.....
still no good...(phone down..put my head in my hands aaahhhh)

what the hell is going on there ????
do they have anyone that speaks english ??

i did send sales 2 emails ..they did not get back to me..

i dont know what to do now....

That's odd, I've never had a problem with SAGER technical support.

You indicate you called sales, I'd suggest calling either technical support or getting in touch with the reseller you bought it through. You did buy it through a reseller, didn't you? Hope so because if you didn't, this is one reason why you should.

The SAGER staff is highly focussed on building machines and not much else. While they'll sell you one, its much better to work through a reseller.

Tess,

You might not be able to "upgrade". That infers giving up the old and getting new for a discounted price (due to trade-in). If you are just wanting to buy the memory and TV Tuner, why not send an e-mail to PC Torque? I'm sure that they would like your business and they speak English very well.

Do you support "in-sourcing"? ie Honda/Toyota, etc building cars in the US? Do you support those foreign companies "out-sourcing" to the US, but not US companies "outsourcing" as well? Protectionism is a two way street.

Food for thought. How many manufacturing jobs do 'forgein' companies provide in the US?

O/T - sorry but...

The US benefits. Far more (non-US!) companies bring jobs here than leave here (bad grammar but you get point). Any protectionism we indulge in for stupid short-term political points will hurt us. Pick up an issue of MIT's Technology magazine, for example, to see all the awesome stuff cooking in company and university labs here (and abroad) which will be job-creators in the near future - for people with the right educations (ie not "Philosophy" or "Advanced Whining"). Nanotech, biotech, materials advances, electronics, super virus killers, environmentally sound technology... The 21st century is just getting started! And then there is space, which I really hope we return to. Get the species off this planet (remember Levi-Shoemaker??), go after the energy and minerals in the asteroid belt, etc.

On a related note, a PriceWaterhouse ad in today's Wall Street Journal talks about US CEOs being more risk-averse than CEOs elsewhere. Risk-averse = head in ground = bypassed by new technology = companies downsize = jobs lost. Guess it's not surprising they are risk-averse with all the over-the-top laws being passed here in overreaction to the corporate accounting mischief from the 90s... But get over it! Timid people didn't hop on ships and cross oceans and build nations 500 years ago!

Sager tech support treated me awful as well. I was told by Laura at PCTorque that they don't outsource their tech support, I guess they just hire forgien guys who are physically located in this country though?

If you are having trouble with them contact PCtorque and give them the name of the person you were dealing with. Once they didn't get back to me either and PCTorque made them contact me. I told PCtorque the names of the two unhelpful guys (one of which LAUGHED at me for getting raid 0) and hopefully they'll get in trouble somehow. I believe mine were named Alan and Jerry, stay away from them!!

I had reason to contact Sager directly several times in the past few months.

In both Sales and Tech Support I spoke with the same three people as when I purchased my first Sager about 15 years ago....... yes, they had heavy accents, but we did manage to communicate.

Unless you are Native American, you, too, are of foreign extraction.

...and, of course Native Americans aren't even "native". They came across the land bridge from Asia.

The US Sager office is of course located in California, and of course...there are LOTS of foreigners in California (im sure due to the international airport(s)).

Only luck I have had is Email, I have NEVER called them and I don't think I will either, I was able do get a Credit card authorization form to fax along with the item #'s etc..

It usually takes a day until they get your email, so be patient.

As far as I know, we are all natives of this planet.

Well, I know that *I* didn't come across the land bridge...

. Neither did I. We are certainly (mostly) all natives to the planet, just not to specific geographic regions. I was born in America. That makes me a Native American. Does it matter where my forefathers (and foremothers) came from? Not to me.

Well, if it does then everyone on the planet is African.
