ordering it was easy smooth. waiting for it however is the pain lol. im sure everyones has experienced this if ordering with hypersonic by reading other reviews from buyers. i swear my laptop was stuck on a step for like a week. i called and got the same answer until i posted my problem on this site and the customer service was better with pat. i was so upset with my shipping because there was actually no excuse for it this time. after talking to hypersonic again it was stuck on another step for a week. they then promised an upgraded on my shipping and threw in some extras for the inconvenience.
package was recieved with over night shipping and i lifted the box wasnt so heavy... after i picked up the laptop... i felt like i was picking up luggage lol. HEAVY. i was very impressed wrapped up neat and came with the extras. HOWEVER... i didnt recieve my waranty card and my dvd recovery disc.... i think they were in sucha hurry to get my stuff out that they forgot stuff lol. anyways i wanted to play games and test everything so i tried 3d mark doom fear dawn of war halflife 2. looked beautiful. i was getting expected benchmark scores.
as for the tv tuner it doesnt work with windows media center. i can open up aver tv and everything works fine. the dvd player/burner works perfect except the lame software that came with it intervideo windvd. i had one more irritating problem. the SPDIF out feature.... i havent managed to get it working fully. i get 2 channels of audio and it has nothing to do with an optical converter. i use a mini jack coverted to rca to my digital in on my reciever and it says linear pcm device. audio works but not all 6 speakers. i called tech support and they have no real answer all i get is blah blah blah. thats the only time i used tech support. im good and troubleshooting by myself so i googled it and it seems its a problem with most laptops and most people use a usb sound converter or pcm card thingy.
ive used the cd dj feature a couple of times but dont really have a use for it. i do have some trouble with it still... often times the damn thing wont shut off all the way. it freezes on shut downs or reboots. i dont have any issues with heat because of the surface i use. the battery life stinks! but its expected for a p4 laptop. after a month of waiting hypersonic sent my warranty card and dvd recovery disk. i have used the recovery disk once but it wasnt at all recovered.... i had errors all over but i trouble shooted it out. the raid seems to speed things up a bit. i dont really notice it.
awsome machine! i dont even use my amd desktop anymore. i used this strictly for small work loads and gaming. no video editing but capturing and editing on the desktop. the only problems that linger are the reboot/ cold boot/ issues freezes and the weight load.
