Dell Inspiron E1505 loose power cord.

Hi,

I got my Inspiron 6400 (E1505) around 3 weeks ago. Now i am not sure if this is normal but the power cable seems to be loose. It will still charge and it will run on AC power, but i have been reading that the power jack on the motherboard could be broken??

Should i contact Dell? I have 3 years at-home support, or wait and when the warranty is nearly over get a new motherboard?

Thanks,

Nicolas,

P.S

I have seen a 4 year old Inspiron 5150 and the power cord was loose.

As long as it is not loose enough to fall out on its own or anything, I wouldn't worry about it. You have 3-years warrenty, so if it does turn out to be a problem you don't have to worry.

Thanks,

It just seems to wiggle. It isn't loose enough to fall out, yet. But i will keep an eye on it!

Also what about a new power jack?

Do you mean the power cord, or the jack on the notebook? A new power cord will not make any difference (unless it is because the existing one was warped in some way or something)... and a new jack on the notebook would usually require an entire motherboard replacement from Dell.

Well it just doesn't seem secure. It won't come out unless with a tug, but i can wiggle it quite alot.

I dont need a new motherboard.
