nyako - Thanks for clearing up the ownership question. For the record, as stated, PCTorque DOES NOT OWN THESE FORUMS. Any decision made here has nothing to do with any other entity.
That said, bulk resellers have been banned because either 1) they violate Dell's TOS (ie. Bal), or 2) they are getting a free ride advertising in a marketplace where advertisers pay to make a presence. I am sure y'all can appreciate why that would be a problem.
Here's the reality: We have told people no before, and they have just gone and done it anyway via PM. If you got something from a Dell reseller (which, of course, don't actually exist), then had a problem, then couldn't find the 'reseller,' then where would they go for help? Bingo. Here. - They would email us - as countless people have - asking us to help and even threatening a lawsuit or something. Not only that, but DELL has a huge problem with this. If they wanted resellers who undercut their own pricing by a hefty margin, they would set that up on their own. But they don't.
What people are a asking us to do is provide the marketplace for people to do something that isn't legal, and then look away and ignore Dell's legal team when they come knocking.
I would be happy to answer any other questions anyone has about this issue, or any other. Our intent is to be as transparent as possible in our decisions - especially those which affect a great deal of people. I have no issue with Bal - he has been an asset to the forums both before and after his ban. We wish him well, though I am not sure how much longer he will go on without Dell coming down on him and his suppliers.
Please feel free to PM me with questions.
