Cloudy Screen even after 2 repairs! what to do?

Thread Starter
I bought my laptop (Satellite M70-DL3) less than a year ago. 2 months after buying it I noticed a few white clouds on my screen so I took it to the authorized Toshiba "Premier" repair centre (Compusmart) where they said they would have to replace the screen. So, i left it there to get the screen replaced. I brought it back home and noticed that there were still white clouds on the screen and this time they covered a much larger are of the screen than before. I took it back to the same "premier" repair centre and they said the "new" screen must have been defective as well so they had to replace it again... When I brought it back again there were still a couple clouds (sized 2 inches or so) on the screen. I called Toshiba and they said take it back and I didn't want to take it back to them. Since then I had gotten really busy escpecially during the normal business hours and a bit lazy as well but now that I know that my warranty expires in a month (I didn't get the extended warranty) I have to get this fixed.

Can anyone suggest what I should do? A laptop is supposed to last you ideally 3 years but this one hasn't lasted properly even for ONE whole year. At this point I think I just want something seriously to be done by Toshiba. Can anyone suggest what I should do. The Toshiba tech support is not great either so I need to approach it in a proper manner. I hope to get a new laptop from them. I don't care if its identical to the one i have but just one that will not cause such problems.

Please tell me what I should do.

Thanks in advance!

Speaking from personal experience, some--but naturally not all--Toshiba ASPs are capable of incredibly mind-blowing incompetence and ineptitude--just like some other ASPs and even some corporate-owned service facilities of every other manufacturer out there.

Keep in mind that Toshiba ASPs are *not* owned by Toshiba--they are merely authorized by Toshiba to provide repair services for Toshiba. Generally speaking, Toshiba customer support won't know exactly what's happening with the repairs of your laptop at any given ASP since ASPs operate independently of Toshiba but Toshiba can work on your behalf to ensure that the ASP can get your laptop repaired in a timely manner. It's also worth noting that Premier ASPs aren't guaranteed to be any less troublesome in dealing with either. Infuriatingly long repair times--like a wait of several months--aren't all that unusual even at the "best" Premier ASPs.

So if you want the best service you'll need to work to get it. Call Toshiba's customer support relentlessly. While calling customer support won't automagically make an ASP's repair job any faster or higher quality, it's universally known that a pissed-off customer probably won't be a future repeat customer so naturally it's in Toshiba's best interest to provide some assistance.

Of course, if you've got the time, skillz and inclination you may be able to scare up the needed repair parts off eBay and install them yourself thereby saving quite a bit of hassle. Toshiba laptops are really quite DIY-friendly.

Call Toshiba and explain that you have taken it in twice with the same problem and that your warranty is about to expire and want it sorted out before that happens. The next time you take it in, turn it on befor e leaving the repair facility to make sure it is fixed to your satisfaction
