Finder title bar questions...

Thread Starter
i would like all my finder windows to display the path where i am, instead of just the folder name at the top of the window.

is this possible?

id also like to be able to see the amount of space the entire folder (that im in) takes up on the drive, instead of what is at the bottom of a finder window.

thanks everyone
running 10.4.8

I don't know about getting them to display the path but if you command click the folder or file icon it'll show you the path.

I'd like to see folder size at the bottom of the window too but it's not possible AFAIK. You can set finder windows to show you how large folders already inside of them are, however, through the command+j properties.

hmmm, easiest way i do it in a window is command+3, which should show u about 3 columns of the directory u r in.

it also depends on how u use the finder w/ re: to its viewing options. for file management i use command+2 almost exclusively, with the exception of my photo folders where i use command+1 (icons). command+2 gives me the option of delving into a folder in singular fashion if i double click on it, but also allows for me to hit the triangle and open the folders w/o having to move into them. the latter also allows me/you to open files therein but not have to lose track of where i'm/you're at.

i've seen an app that adds some of the function u've mentioned but i'll have to do some research to remember which one it is...

Not everyone likes column mode though, Tria. It would be nice to have the option of displaying the path in the title or status bars. There might be add ons that do it but I've never looked for any so I can't tell you what they are.

yeah, i personally don't care for it and only use it in the event where i'm going "which folder/subdirectory am i in now?"

it'd be cool if the finder window would give u the drop down menu that's given to u when u r saving files, where it shows all the folders that u r in.

There's no drop down but if you click on the folder/file icon at the top of the window while holding command it'll show you the directory tree.
