Dell M1710 Review

Don't buy extra warrenty, dell is crap for support. They are based in inida for support and you can't understand them. Also when I rang them up with a problem with my media direct, they made me download the wrong software which did not work at all. The support is rubbish and also our paying for it. i think it was a 0800 number, this costs. I also asked to change my laptop to the m2010, they didn't allow me to, (they kept cutting me of when trying to do this, so I never found out the answer relly, they kept passing me through to someone else or putting me on hold then getting cut off)

even my first m1710 screen was damaged and had to replace it. They are out of order, rubbish SUPPORT. I would have brought the m2010 instead of the m1710, this was not out at the time, once I got my replacement m1710, it was on their site to order. Now my hard drive is relly nosy and my laptop is slow, means the hard drive is going down hill (I have reinstalled windows MCE with the latest drivers) Great!! I now have to contact Dell, this should be fun

Iam now looking for a 20 inch laptop to replace this laptop because I want a bigger screen. I am not buying of Dell for this, if they had good customer services just maybe. Any ideas what 20 inch laptop to buy??

Well I disagree on the whole support and tech thing but that can be discussed in a separate thread. Back to your original question i too would not recommend the Dell 20 inch notebook since it lacks the horse power of the M1710 but the screen is absolutely amazing I have to say. If your intention is gaming then Alienware is an excellent choice for 19 inch monster notebooks although again will not have the same horsepower as the M1710 in fact nothing will due to the overclockable 7600g coupled with the Geforce7950 GPU. What I do at home is plug my 24 inch lcd into my e1705 to enjoy large screen e-penis experience while having mobility when unhooked. I might even consider a smaller notebook due to this method if something powerful came in 15 inch formfactor.

I do like my M1710, but I just want a bigger screen

I have found the following laptops I like, Intel in better, but what I have found is that all the 20inch laptop are AMD, do you know why.

I would like when customizing

Nvidia 7950GTX (x2) sli

Fastest Processor

Biggest RAM

Dual hard drive (x2) I would like the 15,000 spin Hard Drive but I dont think they are out yet, these are made my seagate http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/16/s...pm-hard-drive/

Internal bluetooth (this is not a must)
Internal wireless (The best one Draft N or even G would do)
Internal TV tuner, not a must
biggest resolution
raid 0 ?????

no dead pixel policy if it is cheap and applies to the uk (as I live in the UK)
I will be buying when vista comes out so I sould be able to get the utimate edition when buying

What one would you suggest to me?

Sometimes Dell has some very lame support. But other times they work very well. Also, other competitors have much worse support then Dell.

Probably a top of the line Mac or SONY notebook if no Vista do not buy it if no 2smbs of ram don't buy it.

No he is pointing out that the Dell is a great purchase and the 19" notebooks offer no more power when you consider a C2D is not offered. Just because some of us realize going with an Asus Boutique notebook is a waste of money and we are smarter than you money-wise is no reason to take it out and said obviously smarter than you party

I don't see how DELL-Machina's post was hostile.
