HP dv2000 problems

Thread Starter
hey guys,
I bought a hp dv2000 notebook a while ago, but lately it's been making strange grinding and faint screeching sounds when I startup my laptop, it also makes noises whenever it's running on batteries.
Anyone know what the problems may be?

canned-air ur vents to see if it would help, some dirt (?)
can u also try to locate where the noise comes from? hard drive? fan? ...

the grinding noise and faint screeching sound seems to come from the hardrive, while the noises while running the battery comes from below the keyboard.

i would recommend backing up ur personal data, defrag ur drive to see if any improvement can be seen or heard, some vacuuming and canned.air would not hurt (be careful with losing keys when vacuuming over the kboard)

cheers ...

Could be the fan. Check out this topic http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=87577 "I will tell you is that the dv2000 is probably one of the poorest build laptops that I have ever worked on, most of the wires on the connectors like the on and off switch are glued together and you need to use extreme caution when removing these connectors because like the rest of the dv2000 they are made out of a really cheap plastic that is extremely easy to break."

hehe thats pretty funny. the dv2000 is a nice unit. hard drives will go bad no matter what laptop it is. it is the most common thing to go bad in a laptop besides DC jack issues.
