Inspiron 8000 Video Card Issues

Thread Starter
Recently bought a used Inspiron 8000. It works fine, except I can't seem to get the right video driver for it. It has an ATI video card, and I've tried 4 or 5 different drivers from Dell's site, as well as other download sites, and none of them work. I know it's an ATI card (saw the label on the card), but don't know for sure which one. The Machine originally had Win 2000, but now has XP Pro. It's a Pentium III, 850 Mhz. My questions are: 1. Any way to get the right driver for this card? 2. Is it possible or worthwhile to upgrade the card, and if so, what are my options?

It might be worth going over to Omegadrivers.net and look in the archive section...

You might want to try Dell Chat. I had a friend that was having some major problems with viruses and I had to format her hard drive. It was an older laptop (can't remember which model though) and I had a hard time finding the correct video card. I went on dell chat, told him her service tag number, and he gave me the link to the correct video card driver. Good luck to you.

You likely have a an ATI M4 or M7 video card since those were the only compatible with the 8000. You NEED to use an older cat driver as th enewer ones dont have support for M4 cards and probabaly just as bad for M7 cards as well. Try the drivers listed in the DELL support section of Dells website and use there old drivers they have listed which SHOULD work.
