12 inch notebook suggestions (+/- 1 inch)

I currently own the Dell XPS1210 with the GeForce 7400. I want a small notebook I can game with. I loaded Oblivion and Never Winter Nights 2 on it. Oblivion is somewhat playable at low resolution and low detail. NWN2 is not playable even with everything lowered. I have seen other threads referencing ASUS (A8Js,W3V), Fujitsu (p170),Acer (Travelmate 3210, Ferrari 1004WTMi with ATI RADEON XPRESS 1150),Chembook 2030, Toshiba Tecra M3, and Sony (SZ110) around this size. I would even be willing to go up to 14 inches, but would I gain a drastic improvment in gaming performance? I want something I can easily pick up with one hand and won't burn my stomach when I lay in bed with it. Are there any hard performance comps? Are these better than Dell? How would you rank () in terms of gaming performance?

okay first off if you own a dell xps m1210 you already own the best gaming machine in that size category....

If I were to go to 13" or even 14", would that open my options? I have seen talk of Asus A8Js with a 7700. Is that much faster? I bought my Dell 1210 at the end of last year and will probably not be ready to purchase until August. Has any of the other notebook makers produced anything faster?

not in the 12 inch size... if you are willing to get up to 14 inch then yes that would be a good option, the go7700 is a fair bit more powerful though having 512mb of ram on it is pointless since the card itself hits its limits before the point that it can really utilize that much memory. still the asus would likely be your best option in that case.

no other brand to my knowledge has made a laptop with those kind of specs in that size or smaller...

correct, you're not going to see any vid card better than a 7400 below 14". The Asus A8Js is a 14" with the 7700, as Fidget mentioned, which is the best vid card you'll see in any notebook under 17".
