SONY Digital 8 and overdubbed audio

Hello all,

I have been recording my band live with my sony camcorder. Although the sound is recorded in stereo, it is less than optimum. The other day, I simultaneously recorded to a cd burner from the rca outs on our live mixing board. It records a stereo wav track that is in CD format. I have used audio editing software and vst plug-ins and stuff for audio. I have used Windows movie maker and other programs to edit the VIDEO which I transferred into the computer via Firewire.

Which program would be the best suited to sync the .WAV file from the CD to the >AVI file from the camcorder? I would then have a very nice picture and a very professional sounding soundtrack for the DVDs I have been making for the band.

Be prepared to have to realign the audio, it will get out of sync probably fairly quickly. This has to do with sampling and timecode, a long topic in itself.

Unfortunatly as I don't use Windows much anymore I can't make to many suggestions, ProTools would be one I might look at, though for somewhat less money Adobe Audition is probably going to be one of your better options. Not a fan of many of Adobe's products, but they made a good move buying out cool edit for that one.
