Some how my Acer E settings program for adjusting screen brightness and power manage has disappeared or got corrupted somehow during a crash. I can open the shell but then get the following error mesage.

I tried removing the program and re-installing them after downloading them from Acer
web site but still get same error mesage. My screen settings are stuck at a low level so I can barely see the screen unless the room is dark. Is there a way I can repair the settings program without having to do a full restore of the hard drive? I have a lot of pix on my hard drive that I would need to back up to do a full restore and hope to avoid wasting that time if possible. I doubt Acer tech will help me with this problem since they will say it is a software problem and my computer is over a 100 days old. Any ideas on how to fix this?
