My 1st Alienware laptop - Page 3

mine is still phase 3 even i ordered it last week.. and will be in phase 3 for 10 days since they are out of NEC DVD writer when i called and ask what's the delay..
I changed my order yesterday (added DVDRW drive) and was pushed back to Phase 3 and now on Phase 5. THe part maybe back in stock?
hmm, last week (when I was in phase 6) they said it would ship out by the end of this week and didn't mention the dvd burner being an issue.. I'm going to e-mail them again and ask WTF, because when I ordered it the estimated ship date was 28 May..
and if they're waiting for that fool to sign the piece of paper again I'll be really upset.. you'd think a CEO would know that it's not a good idea to slow down the things that are making you all that $..

Mine took 2 and half weeks from order to arrival. The main delay for me was getting his signature. But they did make it up for a faster shipping method.

Damn!
I was 2 days late on ordering my laptop.

Is anyone willing to sell me there spot on the superman cue?
Let me know how much you are willing to sell your spot for.

Thanks

yeah, i called them yesterday because i was wondering if the website hadnt been updated with my order status... i was on phase 4 since tuesday and i called them yesterday asking if they had just failed to update and what the status of my order was... turns out its only on phase 3 because of the nec dvd drive... and that they would only get a "new shipment" on the 7th of june. Apparently they dont process and build orders chronologically... since bryan'sm505 was ordered 3 days after mine and he's on phase 5 already...
they put a "rush" on mine after I e-mail'd them, but all that did was bounce it from phase 6 to phase 8 in three days..
and how can you buy a spot in the queue? If I could sell my spot I might consider it, but I can't see AW letting someone back out of an order by telling them someone else wants to order it...
As far a AW is concerned "Money is Money".
It would probably only take some email negotiations between the 2 respective parties, and Alienware. Like put a hold on your order and reinstate it under my name and credit card.

"A little off topic, but what happened to the Avatars on the left of the posts. Its just empty space now. They were there before I registered."

Never mind, figured it out, changed the style to old style.

The right shift key is way too small for normal AW - this annoy the heck out of me.

well, now that the Superman is extinct.. maybe the value may go up a little..
actually, a guy from my work might trade me the 1705 he just got (T7200, 2 Gb's DDR2 PC5400, 100 Gb 7200 RPM hd and 7900 GS) for it.. I'd do it in an instant, but my wife doesn't want to get rid of the Superman since it's a collectors edition..

Looks like someone has the same idea. http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-Area-5...QQcmdZViewItem Strange though, he just sold a superman one yesterday. He emailed me saying it was #37. Strange how the number vanished from the sticker on a pratically new system..... Anyways, a buy it now for $2700. Paco must be on crack. It would be interesting to see if he gets any bids. dman- why would you want to trade for a 1705? An XPS 1710 I can see, but the 9400? Cheers Jim
post #52 of 79
the 1705 has the 7900 GS and the T7200 in it; both of those blow the Superman away.. only thing the Superman has going for it over the 1705 is the ability to do RAID.
Plus the 1705 shipped in a day, unlike the Superman which has been stuck on phase 8 for over a week now with AW customer service pretty much blowing me off.
this order has been MUCH worse than my 5550 order
post #53 of 79
I know I could just do a search on this but...
Do they use the same screen on both of them?
I saw reviews that the 1705's screen wasn't too impressive.
my 1705 screen is extremely impressive. totally perfect with absolutely no defects..
I think a lot of the "problems" are peoples eyes or they're a little stoned

anyhow, AW finally decided to ship my Superman today.. they're so lucky because I was getting almost to the point of telling them to just forget it
post #55 of 79
Congrats Dman!! I'm on Phase 8 as of today : )

mine's been on the delivery truck since this morning and hopefully will be at my house soon. Made my son stay home all day waiting for them and put a sign on the door telling them to not even think of knocking and running.. I swear they give you about 1 second to come to the door and I usually answer the door in a few seconds when they are almost back on the truck.. I realize they need to be fast, but it gets annoying..

BTW, should post all the numbers here to see who gets closest to lucky #350
post #57 of 79
dman, if you check my post in AW phases called "superman edition faster than a speeding bullet" there's a poster there who claims to have called AW and found out that his number is 350... is it legit? iono...

well, I'm VERY not happy right now.. stupid thing turned off when I first clicked the touch pad and has turned off two more times from touching keys on the keyboard. no warning or anything, it just shuts down. this was really not what I was wanting today

the certificate of authenticity is missing in it and there's a note that says it's on back order.. not sure how they managed that, but I can't tell what number it is without it.

and someone actually paid $2700 for that old Superman in the post above with the e*bay link.. that's insane
post #59 of 79
doesnt the bottom of your Superman laptop have a numbering badge? I hope everything works out with your machine : )
well, it's something physical and it takes physical contact to shut it down. clicking the turn off the touchpad button definitely kills it, but so did plugging in a USB mouse. I'm thinking there's a completely loose wire in it and I guess I'll be doing some surgery later tonight... blah
