Thread Starter
i have an e1705 with a 2 ghz c2d is it possible to overclock it?
no. Dell uses a wierd PLL chip.

Nope, there's no known way to overclock the Core 2 Duo in an E1705. Sometimes software can be used to overclock CPUs, but Dell uses a locked PLL and the system will usually crash any time you try to adjust it's settings via software.

What about the 7600G? Is that the only CPU on Dells that can be overclocked with Dell's blessing?

Yes, it's the only one. Problem is, you can't even buy it anywhere. It only comes in a M1710.

And even if you could acquire that CPU for an E1705, the E1705's BIOS wouldn't let you Overclock it.

MrEvil is correct. Only the M1710 has the overclocking bios. You cannot install this bios on the E1705 as the mainboards are significantly different. Mainly the docking connector and gigabit.

When people refer to a PLL, I assume you are talking about a PHASED LOCK LOOP. Am I wrong?
