iMac

Thread Starter
hey i know this is the notebook section but i just was thinking of getting a new iMac but i was wondering whether to wait for a couple of months for perhaps an HDDVD or BluRay version? How long do you think it will be until a new model is released? Is it worth waiting? and also how can i plug my 5.1 speakers into an imac?

It really depends on how bad you want the newer drives. I would wait until the war is over and see who the claer champion is. I have a 24"er and I wouldn't trade it for the world. You should be able to use the speaker jack for your surround sound. Having said that the 24" speakers are pretty good. It is my personal bedroom media center.

Hope this helps

Apple's going to put Blu-Ray in their machines before HD-DVD since they're part of the Blu-Ray Association.

If playing DVDs in DVD Player the optical out should stream the 5.1 audio but you can't get 5.1 through any software that uses QuickTime, such as Front Row, currently.

Im with kamikaze.. that war needs to end first, because you may regret settling for the wrong format.. but If your looking for massive storage, go blue ray

Get it now why wait. If you plug the xbox360 HDDVD player threw USB OSX knows excalty what it is and there are people working on getting a player for it working in OSX just like windvd 8. I have the older 17iMac Core Duo not the Core 2 Duo and I love the thing.
