XPS Gaming "Guild" - MMOG or MMORPG - Want to Play?

Are there any fellow XPS owners ( or 8600, whatever ) out there that would be interested in joining me for nightly gaming sessions? ( EST 6 - midnight ). Currently, I'm playing BF1942 every night, and i pretty much suck, but it's a great diversion and oodles of fun, I am a big WWII history buff. Also, I would be up for re-activating my shadowbane account ( I have a r4 female human barb. Yeah, i know...) or getting a new acount on a similar fantasy or D&D based mmorpg if anyone is interested. Rise of Nations is pretty fun too...Let me know, it would be nice to have a little gaming network spawned off this board, as everyone here seems pretty competent and friendly.

hehe did a lot of time in Shadowbane myself. though my characters were all somewhat.........unsavory I probably should start playing again. I bought the expansion and never installed it. I stopped playing because of work getting crazy, but now that things have slowed down a bit, I have more time to do stuff.

Unsavory

I really enjoyed SB, and i had some great friends on there for a long while. I even got some contract work (web designer) off that game. The biggest thing about that game is you have to have people you can rely on to play with, like knowledgeable, team-oriented people, who know their function, and perform that function. You've got to have people that have a group mentality, otherwise, the game is annoying. For example, a "battle" priest, or a tank who runs away. You're a tank, die fighting, bitch. But when you have the team thing going, you can be devastating in a coordinated raid. That's where it becomes really fun. I was in this pirate guild on Chaos, and we would raid groups every night. Really fun. If you're up for it, let's activate our accounts, and start a guild. There are some new classes and what have you now, i should go to best buy or whatever and get the expansion. Could be fun until June when EQ II comes out, (Is it June?)

You should post this again in about 1.5 months when they start shipping the XPS again.

I'm up for BF1942 or NWN

I just got BF Vietnam and Unreal Tournament 2004, both sweet games. I just need a bad ass laptop to play them on now.

So, pretty much everyone still plays BF1942

Ok, since everyone here, lurkers included, is playing BF1942, why don't we join the same server. Lately, i've been playing every night, just joining like random servers or whatever. I totally suck, and it sucks even more playing on a trackpad. I just ordered a wireless keyboard mouse off ebay though. So, somebody post some server details or send me a private message and we'll go from there. Neverwinter Nights also...

Once I get a decent Char I will no doubt fancy a NWN online game

My next gig will be Lineage 2 in May.

Oh Yeah

The original lineage was pretty cool, but beating up trees to randomly get resources got irritating after a while ( I played an elf ). The graphics sucked, but the people who played that game were pretty nice, plus it was available on the Mac.

WOW, the new one though looks totally awesome. Check out this battle scene here:

I'm going to download the client tonight and test it out. Graphics look superb. Anyone else a beta tester? What's yer player name Karl?

Not in the beta (yet).

Just signed up yesterday. Hoping to get in shortly.

Honestly i'm not big into "Betas" for mmorpg's since you eventually lose your character and have to start over once the game hits "release". Usually i'll only do a beta if I have a purpose to do so - like with Everquest. If you were ever into "Everquest", and own the original official strategy guide by Prima publishing, I'm in the credits I helped author it.

But, my authoring days are over and now I play to have fun. I'm gonna try the Lineage2 beta to see if it's worth a damn before I buy it at release. I believe Rich Garriot of Ultima fame is involved in the project, and quite honestly one of my favorite MMORPG's was Ultima Online before it got twisted into something that Garriot couldn't be proud of.

Also, I've been the long-time owner of the game service called "Railbait" (www.railbait.com). While I really just own the gig, I have others that do all the work (gotta love high school kids. They love working for free if gaming is involved!)

Yes, i just signed up a few minutes ago. I'd like to get in there and poke around a bit, although i don't plan on fully fleshing out a character that will get wiped away in a matter of weeks / months. Hey Karl, kudos on the Prima Strategy Guide authoring! Sounds like you really know yer stuff. I checked out your website some time ago, pretty good stuff. Keep on keeping on.

Well if you guys get a game of Battlefield Vietnam going I'll join in as well or UT2004 onslaught is excellent. I'll have to use my Sony desktop for now till my XPS arrives sometime in April. Is Lineage a pay to play game if so too bad as it looks awesome.

there is a guide to get into the taiwan open beta. i tried it and it works, the only thing is i don't understand what people are saying

Well, even if I don't get in, I don't mind waiting for release.

If some of you guys plan on playing Lineage II, let me know. I'll definitely like to get something going - provided you guys don't mind being something of an.....unsavory band of characters

I'm gonna see if I can get some Railbaiters to join in when the release is out.

Sweet, Lineage II hits "Open Beta" testing in 3 days. Karl, you in? Here is a copy of an email i just received. We should post our player names here so we can form a group.

The Open Beta phase for Lineage II begins on March 28th, 2004! Characters from the Open Beta will not be deleted after its completion! You get two months of actual play time for free! One month during Open Beta, plus one free month subscription when you purchase the Lineage II game

I wonder if they will be deleting these beta characters?
