Please advise on upgrading laptop hard drive?

Hey folks - quick question

Could I get advice please? I need to replace the harddrive in my EI Systems laptop, and just need to check a few things re: compatibility. I'm not sure of the meaning of terms like ATA100 and all that, so could someone just advise what my considerations need to be?

The old one is a Toshiba MK4025GAS:

which is IDE (Ultra DMA/100) - does that mean I need to make sure any new HD is IDE (Ultra DMA/100) too?

Yes, they must remain the same. You can't for instance use a SATA drive on a DMA 100/133 controller.
