M1210 7400Go Vista score only 2.0?

OK I just installed Windows Vista Business x86 on my m1210 and installed the 7400 Go driver from Dell's website, but the score is still at 2.0? What the hell? How come 7400 score is lower than the Intel integrated one? Something wrong with my computer or with the driver?

I'm pissed.

Vista had problems running some proper tests. I'd suggest to use video game fps tests. See if the game give you good results.

So what are the overall Vista scores you guys are getting? I'd also love to see score differences between 5400 and 7200 drives. Thanks.

Install Dell's new Nvidia driver, and re-rate in vista. You should get a 3.2 or a 3.4.

I'm pissed off too! My M1210 gets a 3.4 on Video while my old 8600 running at 1.7Ghz with ATI 9200 Video Card got a 3.6

How come a 4 year old computer outperform a brand new one?
I get a 3.3 overall with a 3.6 graphics / 3.3 gaming graphics. I expected more.

My 8600 gets

3.6 graphics
5.9 Gaming graphics

this is like WTF?

Maybe the vista drivers really suck that bad?

I think it is more of a DX10 capable thing. The 7400 just can't do it, so it won't get a 5.0.

I did the test before installing and got a 3.0.

Ya but how in the heck does a 8600 get a - 5.9 gaming graphics? Doesn't it have a go5200 video card?

Hi all,

First post in here as i just recently bought an XPS1210, an upgrade from my old but very good inspiron 8600.

Anyways having it received it on friday, i started it up and decided to do a fresh install of vista ultimate. All was well till i went to install the video card drivers. Now before i did the install, i checked my vista score and it was 3.5. After re-installing all the drivers then having another go at the vista score, imagine my surprise to see it at a low 2.
Anyways took off the nvidia dell drivers that came with the system, ie on the cd...the system ie vista installed its own generic drivers..something like nvidia WDDDM or something...anyways did the vista score test thing again and it came up with 3.3. Oh by the way i have the 256 nvidia geforce go7400 card in my system.

Only thing is that when i went to the dell website and downloaded the nvidia drivers for the video card, i found that they were the same as the one on the cd...so off i went to nvidia website and lo and behold theres no such card as the one that comes on the xps1210...im not very happy about this to be honest.

So where do i find these updated drivers for the card??, any help would be appreciated. Like i said i had a look on the dell site, im from the uk but couldnt see any latest drivers. Funny thing is that the driver that comes with the cd is actually for the geforce 7300 card!!!...lol

I don't know why I thought the 7400 was a much better card than that. How disappointing.

Im sure nabr means Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo 128MB I can see how it scored a little better if thats the case but the 5.9 in gaming is completely wrong.

take the vista scores with a grain of salt. They are just a general guideline & are not the end all to performance scores. There have been a fair share of people getting scores that have not properly refleted the performance of their equipment. If you want to gauge synthetic performance grab a copy of 3DMark05 or 06. If you want to find out how your card actually performs play a game like HL2/Oblivion/FEAR.STALKER.

The first 3 or 4 times I ran the Vista performance index I recieved something like 2 on my graphics scores. Even after installing the latest drivers & rebooting.

Here is a listing of mobile cards & where they fall (the 7950GTX SLI is a typo, it's supposed to be a 6, not a 4)
