Will the 2.4 ghz amd be ample enough for these tasks or should i go with the core 2 duo in a dell??
I'd recommend going with a Core 2 Duo system. The Turion 64 certainly can handle itself just fine, but if you are doing some moderate multitasking on a T64 next to a C2Duo system, the differences are pretty pronounced in my opinion. The non-support of DDR2@677Mhz and use of DDR@400Mhz is another sore point. Don't get me wrong, if all you are used to is a single processor system, you won't be unhappy with a Turion 64, but as I said, the differences are pronounced after you've played on a C2Duo system for awhile. Why not wait for the m9750 from AW if you want an Alienware? The next Dell XPS should be out soon also. The only thing that would keep me from buying a Dell right now would be the fact that their XPS with Santa Rosa (and possibly G84 DX10) should be out within the next couple of months. If you can wait, I would suggest waiting to see what both AW and Dell are offering at that time.
If you need something right now, plan on multitasking + gaming and want an AW, I would probably suggest looking at a m5790.
