All reviews I've read states that it should be at 1680 x 1050... and after buying 1, I found mine to be at a maximum resolution of only 1280 x 800... have I gotten some stick or what? Is this normal?

No it's not normal at all, never hear of 1280 x 800 on G1, where you purchase from? Are you in US?

Got it in Singapore. Anyway, I called their rep from APAC and he said that the localised version is all 1280 x 800... made me so sick... I actually bought it after I read all the reviews etc etc posted here and at other sites. Didn't try it on the spot... sort of like pay and go and now... an inferior screen size.

Sorry to be the barrer of bad news, but that's correct most reviews you will see here and on NBR are all US based reviews and some come from other places.

When purchasing laptops in others countries, you must always call your reseller ahead and ask what are the specs, price, accessories, find out as much information as possible. You can even make a table in MS Excel to compare it all and see if your getting what you want.

Some people who realize that their country offers inferior specs but still at a high price, tend to look at the import option from the US.
