not attacking you guys, but im just curious, you say that amd's bad cause the fan's go out, thats not amd's fault, its not like intel processors have a magic "anti-fan stop" circuits in them And i've never had a probelm replacing my amd chips (after giving them one hell of an overclock) They RMA'ed my DOA processors too, in addition to the 3 year warranty on the processors, so i see no difference in "service" here. (in the past year i've dealt with probably 200 processors from amd, for personal and friends use)
As far as AMD admitting intel is the king, i disagree denkc, i think they are making more of a statement that you dont need "ghz" to be fast. I think its smart advertising as well. I mean the general public is full of idiots, we gotta face that, so they think, ok wow 2 ghz, tahts fast. So they see the amd 1.6 Ghz or whatever it is, and they're automatically assuming its slower then the intel, when in truth it keeps right up along with it(and most of the stuff i've seen is faster till the 3.06) I think its intelligent advertising, because the GP will go for what they *think* is best, just because of numbers. Granted, i think amd would've done better if they had said 2ghz...but oh well can't undo the past.
And for fans going out...motherboards have features such as auto shutoff for heat alarms, even auto shutoff if the fan cuts out.
Granted, i will buy a sager, because they are beast laptops, if they came with amd chips i'd be in heaven, but you can't win them all.
On a side note i find it interesting this is getting so many posts, i setup a post just for this debate and like 2 people were like no.
