How do you install Mobility Drivers from ATI/AMD site? I can't get it to work, Vista doesn't want to install it. I have tried the video driver posted here too but same result. Vista just don't install them. How did you guys got it installed to your machines? I have ASUS W3J with MR X1600 256MB (512MB Hyper Memory)

Do you have Vista 32 or 64? Try this one: http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/...sta_070213.zip

Hi, I have 32bits Vista Ultimate on my W3J. By the way, is it normal to have both ATKOSD and ATKOSD2 on the background running process? If not then how do you uninstall the old ones like you stated above, don't see them on the uninstall programs but I uninstalled some of the old ones from the Device Manager. Thanx for your time.

Very good question - happens to me too. I uninstalled the new OSD2 as it use up quite a lot more memory than the old one. I'd rather have a few extra MB's and sacrifice the fancy graphics!

I do have both ATKOSD & ATKOSD2 running. I think it's normal...

greetingz,
i have installed vista business 32bit (hun) on my asus A6Ja (aka S96J vith Merom cpu) laptop but the hotkey driver just doesnt want to work. i've installed all of the ATK drivers (and almost all of the other) from the first page, but the HControl.exe is not working somehow. correct me if i'm wrong but this supposed to control the Fn+F1-Del keys and the 4 extra buttons (Powergear, Browser, Mail, Touchpad). only the sleep and brightness works properly form the F keys (probably vista can handle it) but the others dont including the 4 extra. so okay i'll go in the programfiles/atk hotkey and start the HControl.exe but then it just terminates itself without any warning or error msg, i even put it in the autostart but no luck :S
anyone has an idea on what lever to pull or button to push or developer to sware because i'm really lost here.

First, make sure you have update Windows using Windows Update. Also make sure you have uninstall all previous version of ATK drivers, reboot the computer after you uninstall it, download and install all 4 drivers:
ATK Drivers
ATK Utility
ATK OSD
ATK Media

Reboot your computer.

Oh by the way. ASUS W3J drivers are up at official page
post #32 of 49
i had no luck. i did a complete vista reinstall, did the updates first and it downloaded some old HControl and stuff (it still couldnt control the sound), i uninstalled them, rebooted, installed the 4 ATK drivers and the same thing like before, the hcontrol exe shuts down right after i start it.

Latest ASUS W3J BIOS version 211 is up on official page. Grab it~

Systems are working normal now, the performance in Vista OS are lots more responsive now.

Not sure if I should install TPM driver now since pre-bios update 211 it couldn't find the chipset.

Can anyone advise as to which of the drivers listed are needed for the r1f running Vista 64? Yes, I'm a newbie...have to start somewhere....

This does not work for me, I keep getting setup errors smvdm. sys is missing. Any tips? I have the default VIA AC 97 speakers, and my line in as well as surround is useless.

I don't think Power 4 Gear Extreme is actually working. With everything turned high to performance 100%, the speed still jump around. Would like to have it stay at either lowest for battery saving and highest for gaming. Anybody having this issue too? (W3J)

Have you try the new BIOS 211?

FWIW, I just did a clean install of XP-SP2 on my Z96JS and took a stab at loading these newer ATK-ACPI, Hotkey and OSD2 drivers/apps. The ATK-ACPI driver itself loads fine in XP but the Hotkeys app (Hcontrol.exe) bombs every time it is called (e.g. when you load up your profile). And accordingly, the OSD app never gets running since I assume it depends on the Hcontrol utility. Don't know the cause, maybe the one GenTechPC tested with has been updated since then. The dates on the files I used were: driver: 070126 hotkey: 070117 media: 070125 OSD2: 070125

Try this version 070213 see if it works:
