E1705 VGA to HDTV...MUCH lower FPS using a lower res in ALL games. Any ideas

So my VGA cable came in today. I'm using it to connect my E1705 (with a 7900GS) to my Olevia 27" HDTV. The only problem is when I go to run games on it (using a much lower resolution than I used too...I used to use 1920x1200), the games run MUCH worse. Using FRAPS, I can determine they a good half of what they used to when using 1920x1200. I'm using 1360x768 to match the resolution of my TV, and like I said, I'm getting half the FPS. Any ideas guys?

Your CPU isnt being used enough and not throttling up. No idea if im right or not, but thats absolutely the only thing i can think of. Change your power settings to 'ALWAYS ON'. See if that helps. I kinda doubt im right, but its a thought.

I'm such an idiot. After playing around some settings, I found out it wasn't plugged in. Thus, my GPU wasn't at full power.

Now the next thing is my HDTV can't go above 30 FPS. Not a huge problem, but it would be nice not to be capped. Oh well.

Hey man its all good. Occams Razor-Often times the simplest explanation is the answer. Thats odd that its capped at 30, i dont think thats right.

I'm not sure either...no game I have can get above 30...It's strange. This is with FRAPS.

Do you maybe have vsync turned on in the video card options?
