Mediadirect v3 CD/DVD - Page 5

THX, but I don't care of the rep itself, but it's really sad if you do something for the community and than get neg rep, if I make a mistake there is no problem for me to take neg rep, but in my opinion I didn't do anything wrong.

My rep was at -3 as far as I can remember...

Thanks for sharing. I downloaded all the files and MD5 checksums checked out for all 12 files. Then I used "HJSplit for Windows" to join the files. But when I try to burn it using Nero 7.0.0.0 I get "Sorry, this is not a valid Nero disk image type" error. However I can load it with DAEMON tools and copy the files. I burnt a DVD using the copied files, I hope it works.

I'd appreciate if you could post the checksum of the original nrg file as well. Thanks (BTW I gave you a + rep point )

This is very surprising. How the hell has it happened. I spent 48 hours uploading at 15 Kbps on Megaupload to help people, I also added MD5 checksums in one of my posts here then why this **** is happening. Have you used the same software for crossverification, that I used to find the checksums. If the checksums are correct then this shouldn't happen. Unfortunately, I have deleted the individual files from my system as it took a large space. But I will surely redo the things to find out the checksum for the final Image file. Please bear with me for some time. Cheers

Hey DocX36, I can see some people are facing problems in making an ISO. It seems you are the only one (at least in this thread) who successfully created the ISO and ran it. May I request you to tell people which software you used to create the ISO and did you check the checksums of the individual files after downloading. Have you used this ISO yet. Cheers

I also downoaded all 12 files from megaupload (didn't pay, so they allowed me to get only two files per day). Checksums coincided, files joined OK. I used Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/) to do both checking MD5 sums and joining splitted parts. I opened the resulted Nero image with WinIso, files that are inside seems to be correct. Plan to install this weekens. Thanks, again for uploading!

I burnt the image with Alcohol 120%, it worked ! Installed MediaDirect 3 and<st1>Vista</st1>. For some reason Nero still refuses to load that nrg. Thanks again !

I also downloaded the 12 files ok. Nero did not work, but I was able to use DVD Decryter to burn the ISO. All the files appear to be there, I will try to install this weekend.
navverma thank you for hosting the files.

I used Ultra ISO which handled the file with no problems, it didn't seem to care about the extension - I simply told it i wanted to create an .iso. I then used Roxio Easy Media Creator to burn the image to DVD. Worked fine on a Precision M90 but the XPS2 does not have a 'media' button so no luck on that machine.

Kind Regards,
DocX36

For those with Nero issues try renaming the .nrg extension to .iso.

Worked like a charm for me.

Many thanks to navverma for the Megaupload and to others for the great help!

Hello,
I setup my hard drive with the CD, it made the three partitions ok. Now after installing windows I try to install Mediadirect3 I get an error that says, This system is not supported by this reinstallation DVD and that the installation will close.
Does anyone have any advice on how to make this work?

I thought I could use the center button on the front panel to work Mediadirect.
Oh well, there goes that idea.

MD3 WILL RECONFIGURE YOUR HDD FOR USE WITH ITSELF, WINDOWS & DELL DIAGS !!! 1. Boot from MD3 and let it prep your drive whatever way you prefer (100% of the disk is what I done). 2 .Reboot and boot from Vista DVD and install Vista. 3. Once Vista is installed go straight to "Control Panel" and open "User Accounts and Family Safety" then into "User Accounts" and TURN OFF "User Access Control" from here and reboot when asked. 4. Once rebooted put the MD3 DVD in the drive and CANCEL the automatic install (Press ESC to cancel) 5. Explore the DVD and go into the folder called "DELLKIT" and right click on the file called "DELLKIT.EXE" and select "Run As Administrator". This will then bring up the same install screen for MD3 and hit Enter. This should now let you install MD3 into Vista with no problems and now REMOVE THE DVD from the system. 6. Shutdown the system. 7. Press the MD button on your system and it should boot Dell MediaDirect and runs its "First Time Setup" screen. 8. Reboot again and then load Vista and lauch MediaDirect for Windows and goto the "Settings" option to configure the folders you want to use for Music, Video etc... ie. C:\\Users\\Mark\\Music 9. Now download the latest DellDiags Partition Upgrade exe currently at v1288. The filename is "DDUP1288.exe" the link is ftp://ftp.dell.com/diags/ddup1288.exe and run this exe which will extract the files to "C:\\dell\\drivers\\R135734". 10. Right click on the file in this folder called "UPDIAGUD.EXE" and select "Run As Administrator" and this should now install Dell Diags into the diags partition on your hard drive with Media Direct created earlier. 11. Once complete reboot and press F12 at the bios screen and select "Diagnostics". This should do a quick scan then boot the diagnostics partition! Reboot once you get it loaded. 12. Goto STEP 3 above and ENABLE UAC again and reboot. So now you have everything working as it should (hopefully): F12 to load your DIAGS partition POWER button to load Vista MD button to Load Dell MediaDirect MD cannot install nor can the diags upgrade program due to Vista's UAC security and the fact that no user has full admin rights. By disabling UAC (I recommend you DO NOT leave it turned off) and right clicking the installers manually and running them as a full Admin, it lets the programs have full access to the partitions and therefore they can install correctly. These are the steps I took to finally get MD3 installed with Vista and since then it has worked perfectly. I welcome any questions or corrections anyone might have on this. This may be helpful as a Sticky in the forum if the Forum Admins wish to use it please let me know. Regards, Mark - aka IrishLad
I tried your suggestions. I have an Inspiron E1405. After step 6 and I press the button for MediaDirect, I get an error message that says: "NTLDR is missing. Press any key to restart." I've tried several different things and every time it fails to launch. I have to reinstall Windows Vista every single time. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! Charlie
