I want HD-DVD!! I wish Alienware had gone with HD-DVD I agree with purplepack as I also have a HD projector and I find watching old SD movies to be disgusting in fact I am getting sick just thinking about SD !!! I plan on getting the m9750 and, I may get the blue ray player; I will see. It does seem (according to cnet) that Blu-ray has more studios backing it BUT HD has the support of porn studios because it is cheaper to author the discs and, I think we all know how important porn was the first time around in the Clone war. . .I mean VHS vs. BETA wars (even though I was just a zygote around that time) P.S. Purplepack let's get together and watch some Hi-Def content sometime

I don't so much as like the cost of blu-ray movies at the moment. They do look very very very good though. God of War was sweet on a 61" dlp

I ordered my laptop with the blu ray option, and until you truly see it for yourself, you cant imagine how much nicer it is, I work right next to sound advice and they had one hooked up to a 70" 1080p TV and woah...i was almost late I stayed for so long lol, they were showing movie clips and just wow, I got The Brothers Grimm and its beyond gorgeous! I plan on getting a much bigger 1080p display (none of that 720p junk!) and getting a 7.1 surround sound setup, wow I cannot wait, gotta start saving those pennies

are there any aftermarket drives for a m9700 that play blue ray or HD DVD?

No arguments there ... but my point is, you won't get the WOW factor on a small notebook display. No doubt, BD or HD or a large 1080p is

you would think so, but surprisingly enough even on a 17" display you get alot of wow, Ive showed some friends and they were surprised, even I was thinking myself that it wouldnt be that great, but I showed me!
