History: have had 2 motherboard replacments on my original 9860. currently have a 9890 motherboard but still using the original 6800 nvidia card.

the 9890 board went in August of 2006.

have had no problems until this morning.

booted up ... all ok until log on screen for windows xp and my screen had what best can be described as "snow" ... then a couple of seconds to black screen.

had to power off from power button. rebooted into safe mode just fine.

then restarted into normal mode and it booted up ok and it's been fine for about 2 hours. so far so good.

any ideas?!?!?! Oh, one more item ... the driver i use is 84.22 from the Sager driver download site

Driver problem? Video card going bad? overheating problem (but that can't be as the computer had been off all night so how could it be heat when just booting up cold in the morning)

I clean out and blow dust out every month or so hence my machine is "clean"

sigh ...

A loose connection? Do you port your laptop around alot? Might try doing a tilt/shake test and maybe reseating your vid card if it happens again.

Yes, i move this puppy all over the place ... home - office - clients etc etc ...

the issue has not, as yet, re-exhibited itself. Sager tech support asked me to take a picture of the "phenomenon" if it happens again.

weird... i sure as heck don't want to go through another mob replace (done 2 already).
