ATTN: All Dell 9400/e1705/m1710/m90 owners!!! - Page 18

Well, I decided to keep my replacement 9400 and have extended the warranty for another two years. The way I see it, if Dell wants to risk replacing my machine again rather than provide me with the grounded power supplies that I was promised with this unit, then that's their problem. Since I never use this machine on my lap, I don't have many concerns about zapping myself.

Interestingly, Dell seems to be in the process of raising the return to depot warranty rates, by about $50 per year. Wonder why...

I have a m170 that cam with a 3 prong power brick. Unfortunatly I travel overseas and have to plug into plugs (mains) that do not have grounds. Of course when I do this the laptop does become engerized and zaps me occasionally. Any ideas on how to possibly fix this?

Cheers

As of today's date, Dell has not responded to my request for more information about the purchase at a discount program. Apparently, this has become a dead issue.

Just ordered my cousin an HP. Getting my wife an HP within the next 6 months. My parents will be getting a laptop in the next 6 or so months and, Dude, they're not getting a Dell either.

I believe my next laptop will be a Sager.

Here's a discounted adapter:

Probably cheaper than Dell's "discount" anyway.

Don't you guys know how to shop on the internet?

The point is that we shouldn't have to buy a part aftermarket to make it so we can use the laptops in the manner intended, i.e. in our laps.

Well I too just placed an order with HP. $43,687 dollars worth of stuff that WOULD have gone to Dell. But instead we are installing all new HP Servers and Desktop in one of my client's businesses. HP Would not make me buy a grounded adapter.

Dell really have slipped....I'm amazed...as I have stated numerous times in this thread, Dell gave me one for free within 2 days of emailing them about the problem....so why can't Dell US/Canada....that's rediculous....
Tell you what, the 9400 is the last Dell I'll be buying...what with this issue, and the VERY poor paint quality...and to think over the last year, 4 people at my work have bought a Dell through my recommendation...

Does anyone know if the Inspiron 5150 adapter (PA-1131-02D) works with the Inspiron 9400? I recently found one in our pile of 'spares'.

Just a quick note to say that Direct2Dell blog have reopened their survey of 9400/e1705 owners who want to "buy" a three prong adapter at "a reduced cost". At this point, no one probably cares anymore, but thought I would pass this along.
